About the Role:
Chief is looking for a Sr. Event Manager for our Chief Conference, who will lead and run the day-to-day operations for our events and will lead the execution and help shape the vision of our inaugural multi-day member event.
A great candidate will have demonstrated experience in managing and producing best-in-class conferences or multi-day retreats for thousands of attendees. The ideal candidate is ultra-organized, detail-oriented, collaborative and loves to build things from the ground up. This role will report to the Sr. Director of Events & Programming, and will work closely with the key stakeholders across the Chief team and our external production agency.
What you’ll do:
- Oversee and manage the operations of Chief’s inaugural multi-day member conference for thousands of attendees joining in-person and remotely
- Contribute to the overall definition of mission and execution of the event
- Manage, develop and lead the conference team in planning, production and execution
- Our lynchpin – you and your team will collaborate cross-functionally within Chief and with our external vendors to manage the success of the event
- Supervise day-to-day operations on all things related to the conference, including but not limited to: registration and ticketing, venue and vendor negotiation and management, site logistics, product and tech, food and beverage, attendee & speaker relations, communication, sales
- With our marketing team, execute member marketing and communication plans for each attendee type
- Develop and maintain overall run of show, event production schedules, and cross-functional processes
- Communicate and manage deadlines for all internal departments and external vendors to ensure that deadlines are met and that the event comes together in a cohesive manner
- Lead cross-functional internal and external meetings to continue to drive planning forward
- Develop an overall attendee relations strategy which encompasses both pre-event and on-site support
- Managing and maintain overall global budget, with a conscious mind towards cost savings and ensuring that we are spending our budget wisely
- Review, negotiate, and get sign-off on contracts and vendor agreements
- Occasional site visits for meetings and supervise progress and the build-out of our site
- Oversee and manage the onsite logistics of the event
What you’ve done and enjoy doing:
- Extensive and proven experience producing multiple large scales events & conferences, and managing teams
- An entrepreneurial self-starter, you can write the playbook on how to stand up a multi-day event for a high-touch community
- Strong experiential acumen—you know how to create and produce thoughtful, engaging events that deliver against strategic objectives and are tailored for the intended audience.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and supporting on all operations for a brand with the partnership on an external agency
- Proven experience in producing, managing, and supporting large scale events and being the point of contact on all day-to-day operations
- You are a strong leader and communicator onsite
- Maintained great relationships with a wide array of vendors
- Demonstrated extreme attention to detail
- Building crystal clear communication line to keep teams aligned
- Experience learning and navigating within a high-growth and fast paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite Products is a must
- Knowledge of Zoom, Airtable, Slack, Salesforce, and Notion are a plus
