WHY THIS ROLE IS VALUABLE

The Sr. AVP, Global Business Continuity role develops, plans, executes, and tests the availability and recovery of business processes. The role interfaces closely with and provides influence to senior executive leadership on a global and regional level. The role requires critical, indirect leadership and influence with other corporate support areas, including IT to affect a comprehensive business continuity and technology recovery program globally.

HOW YOU ADD VALUE

  • With participation from various departments and regions, create the program and set the enterprise business continuity planning strategy and continuously evolve the program and standards to proactively mitigate risks and respond to evolving regulatory requirements, threats and business changes
  • Directly lead and champion other business continuity stakeholders across all business areas who perform the primary first line of defense activities within the continuity framework including Business Impact Assessments, Continuity Planning, testing and Incident Response, including assisting with data breach incidents
  • Serve as a primary point of contact and subject matter expert for new and existing BC planning and recovery objectives
  • Facilitate meetings with key stakeholders to assess strengths and weaknesses in the program and ensure adequate resources are allocated to the most critical functions needing attention
  • Drive improvements required to enhance the enterprise's business continuity framework and program, as part of an Enterprise Resiliency Framework, to ensure consistency with industry best practices and ensure adherence across the globe
  • Oversee and continuously enhance the global incident management program, providing regional representation and support of the business during major events
  • Work closely with IT disaster recovery management to ensure alignment with business continuity planning, test planning, plan improvements and results analysis
  • Conduct reviews with business units based on criticality; at a minimum, conduct annual reviews for critical processes
  • Establish and maintain key partnerships across the corporate support areas to ensure business continuity planning and incident response are incorporated including Corporate compliance, Enterprise Risk, Global Security and Facilities, Information Technology, Human Resources, Legal, etc.
  • Ensure senior management holds business units accountable for their roles and obligations in business continuity
  • Work with stakeholders, crisis management and incident response teams to define benchmarks and metrics to align the program with expectations and set it up for success
  • Define, create, and socialize BC planning and recovery policies signed off by senior leadership
  • Review critical third-party contracts of service providers delivering recovery facilities
  • Represent Business Continuity at key committees
  • Participate in external business continuity management organizations and keep abreast of industry best practices, emerging risks & threats, and broader industry issues

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a Business Continuity role
  • Four-year degree from an accredited college
  • Strong project management experience
  • Technical acumen to understand critical business applications technical dependencies and experience with BC software
  • First-class interpersonal skills, including relationship building & maintenance
  • Excellent communication (verbal & written), numerical, presentation & organizational skills
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork skills
  • Effective reasoning and decision-making skills
  • Strong negotiation and investigation skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and follow up in a timely manner
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment where superior time-management and prioritization skills are essential
