Are you looking for an opportunity to learn new skills in demand almost everywhere in the US in an interesting and challenging environment? Our team is looking for a self-motivated and confident individual with a technical background to work with our product classification team. This is a key position that sets the foundation for the export and import of the company's products and technical information.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The Global Trade Technology Management Specialist establishes the foundational information needed to Export and Import Collins Aerospace products. The primary functions of this position are classification and development of processes and tools to support the network of individuals, called classification focals, responsible for determining product and technical data export and import classifications. This is done through focal identification, training, mentoring, communication forums, and maintaining focal metrics.
  • Applicants need to have technical education and knowledge of engineering concepts to perform classifications, analysis, and validation, and have an ability to hold very technical communications with engineers to ensure products are classified correctly.
  • This individual will be required to interpret U.S. export and import regulations under the Export Administration Regulation (EAR), International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) and Global Harmonized Schedule (HS), as well as support investigations and reviews of possible GT escapes and disclosures, and the drafting of Commodity Jurisdictions (CJ) and Commodity Classification Automated Tracking System (CCATS) to government agencies
  • This individual will be required to develop automated solutions and assist with SAP/GTS and xClass integrations.
  • A high level of communication, time management, technical, and organizational skills are required to excel at this role.
  • This individual will also work with Central Global Trade to drive consistency in the interpretation of the regulations and how they apply to our products.
  • Reports directly to the Technology Team Manager and will also provide support and guidance to all areas of the business including Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, the Import Compliance Team, and others as it relates to Collins Interiors organization.

This individual will operate with a fair amount of independence, but will need to be able to communicate clearly with their team and the business.

Basic Qualifications:

  • This position requires a bachelor's degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Must be willing and able to travel 5%-10% of the time
  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident "Green Card" holder


Preferred Qualifications:

  • A desire to learn a new skill set in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Technical background - ability to understand technical drawings
  • Project Management experience
  • Ability to learn and utilize many different application tools (SAP/GTS, SharePoint, Office 365, Smartsheet, Access, Web based tools, etc.)
  • Must be able to communicate with Engineering to understand how something works and understand the jargon
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
  • Ability to step back and look at the big picture of what is needed for the enterprise and investigate other opportunities through innovation to accomplish goals.
  • A working knowledge of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR - 22 CFR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR - 15 CFR) would be a benefit but not required.
  • Experience with Collins/RTX current trade compliance related processes (classifications, authorizations, logging, compliant transfer modes, record keeping, etc.) and Collins specific GT related systems (GTS, OCR, MKDenial, xClass, TEXPORT) is a plus.
