Overview
Responsible for managing key metrics related to servicing litigation, including contested foreclosure matters, title matters, and mediation. Maintain a case for each matter in which the specialist will be required to document status of the litigated issue, assess risk and organize supplementing data and information to support servicing litigation. Assist with special projects and escalated high risk issues and cases. May also be asked to train other specialists, and travel to attend hearings for the department.
Job Description

  • Manage, monitor and track litigated files which include but are not limited to contested, title, mediated and bankruptcy proceedings
  • Research and evaluate findings by attorneys or business partners
  • Work with clients and servicing systems to retrieve and provide documentation and loan-level data to outside counsel
  • Evaluate reports and research risk and potential risk of legal documentation
  • Assist with processing and payment of outside counsel invoices
  • Support in-house counsel, on research projects regarding servicing issues and pre-litigation customer disputes
  • Receive lawsuits and formulate strategy with attorney
  • Monitor progress of litigation with attorney and keep management up to date
  • Organize case materials and research to be presented to upper management
  • May attend hearings, (including mediation, trial, settlement conferences, depositions to present company position, and defend)
  • May travel as a corporate representative for mediations, trials, settlement conferences and depositions
  • Deliver presentations on escalated cases to upper management
  • Assist in training other specialists, as needed
  • Assist in writing policy and procedures
  • Monitor and track title litigated files consisting of contested, title, mediated and bankruptcy proceedings
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Ideal Candidate will have the following:

  • Four year degree and/or Paralegal Certificate preferred
  • Knowledge of legal pleadings and ability to review and decipher allegations and issues
  • Knowledge pertaining to the legal process and procedures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency with Loan Sphere and other mortgage servicing systems
  • Ability and availability to travel
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to analyze mortgage industry related documents
  • Advanced organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of management in a professional and organized manner
  • Ability to work well with data, to calculate timeframes and evaluate costs and losses
  • Advanced interpersonal, analytical, presentational, problem-solving, verbal and written communication skills
