The Spaceflight Mission Operations Manager is responsible for defining, implementing, and executing all mission operations activities for the Collins Exploration Extravehicular Activity team.

(S)he is responsible for direction, coordination and implementation of the mission critical operations and responsibilities including the generation and implementation of the Mission Integration and Operations Management Plan (MIOMP), execution of spaceflight operations, crew training, crew health and safety, real time mission support, leadership of sustaining engineering activities, and management of space flight and ground-based logistics. (S)he is responsible for the mission operations in space and the associated team, procedures, and data.

Responsibilities include management of cost, schedule and technical performance attaining the highest degree of quality and customer satisfaction. Space Systems is seeking an experienced and motivated leader for this effort.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Charter and lead the Next Generation Space Suit Mission Management Integrated Product Team (IPT) through all phases of the program management process, specifically ensuring the successful achievement of all services, deliverable outputs, and customer requirements
  • Coordinate Collins, teammate companies, suppliers, and customer integration to meet the mission success requirements, cradle-to-grave, across planning, logistics, training, and mission execution in a matrix organization utilizing multiple engineering disciplines
  • Develop, maintain, and execute program management plans and resource loaded Integrated Master Schedule (IMS)
  • Implement the Program's EVMS, Analysis & Reporting Plan. Conduct performance variance root cause analysis and ensure corrective action is implemented. Ensure schedule compliance, and that program costs are aligned with budget
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate the program risks and opportunities associated with the Spaceflight Operations
  • Identify and monitor resources required to fulfill program objectives, and coordinate requirements with functional management
  • Act as a central point of communication and escalation from project team members, suppliers, customers, management and others impacted by project activities
  • Develop executive level communications and presentations for internal and customer reviews


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years' experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements


Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMI PMP Certification desired
  • Experience with running a service or mission-based organization
