Major Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for articulating Advocate Aurora Health's Supply Chain strategies and the rational for those strategies within the consolidated Supply Chain Department and Advocate Aurora Health Care facilities.
  • Responsible for creating strategies to bring non-contracted products and services under contract and assuring best contract coverage for assigned categories.
  • Responsible for communicating with distribution, vendors, individual facilities, and specific departments in order to implement approved conversions for products and/or services.
  • Works closely with service line leaders to identify standardization opportunities and product/service evaluations. Initiate negotiations, extensions or terminations of agreements with suppliers, manufacturers, service providers, and equipment providers.
  • Activates GPO contracts when those contracts align with categories' strategies. Consult with GPO staff for guidance and insights. Understand GPO relationship and the benefits of using GPO contracts.
  • Stays current on assigned service line / category related market conditions, new products, technology and changes; educates physicians, clinical leaders and staff on changes.
  • Develops and implements consistent tools and processes to communicate and measure strategic sourcing activities across the organization.
  • Consults with Legal on contractual issues concerning proper legal terms and conditions. Ensuring all other relevant departments' evaluations of contracts are triggered (IT, Data Security, etc.) which can vary by contract type.



Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

  • None Required.



Education Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field.



Experience Required:

  • Typically requires 7 years of experience in a healthcare setting which may include strategic sourcing products/services.



Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Ability to take responsibility for a portfolio including multiple strategic contracts, categories.
  • Ability to manage complex issues, drive incremental contract savings, and develop strategic relationships.
  • Advanced understanding of contract management processes and procedures.
  • Advanced understanding of contract terms and conditions.
  • Ability to support internal or external customers.
  • Understanding of basic accounting concepts.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
  • Advanced problem solving skills.
  • Ability to perform financial analyses.
  • Strong verbal and written communication; presentation skills.
  • High level of autonomy and motivation in order to deliver upon the group's annual objectives.
  • Ability to be self-directed and perform daily tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Forward thinker - anticipates issues and adjusts actions appropriately.
  • Exhibits leadership skills in the team setting and in interactions with other departments
  • Self-motivated with strong work ethic
  • Must be able to utilize PowerPoint, Excel, and other data analytics platforms proficiently (including functions and formulas).



Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Position may require travel which may result in exposure to road and weather hazards.
  • Exposed to normal office environment.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
