Summary:

The Sourcing Specialist serves as a liaison to supplier sales management and the operational manager regarding commercial and cost control matters and engages Corporate Legal, IT, Finance, and/or Risk Management departments as required. Responsible for reporting and document retention for key assigned procurement supplier relationships.

A Sourcing Specialist should have a fundamental understanding of and possess the basic qualifications to perform any of the roles in Procurement, including but not limited to, Purchasing, Contracting, Supplier Governance, and Vendor Relationship Management.

Essential Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

All Levels:
• Strategically sources, competitively bids, and/or negotiates key supplier relationships to achieve savings and efficiency improvements.
• Works cross-functionally to engage with new and incumbent suppliers on sourcing events and in support of corporate policies.
• Proactively researches supplier spend in assigned expenditure categories and formulates cost reduction sourcing strategies to improve efficiency, reduce expenditures, and consolidate the supplier base.
• Leads less-complex sourcing projects or participates in complex sourcing projects led by more senior level Sourcing Specialists to facilitate key document preparation and cross-functional team (comprised of mid and senior level companywide managers) activities.
• Leads strategic sourcing efforts associated with their assigned expenditure categories, including creation and management of less complex Request-for-Proposal, Quotes, Information etc. (RFx) packages, negotiations with key suppliers, supplier presentation and proposal evaluation activities.
• Prepares, negotiates, reviews, and approves less complex project negotiations in compliance with company policies and procedures and cost control priorities.
• Develops and manages Request for Proposal (RFP) packages in support of high-dollar and strategic supplier expenditures. Leads high-dollar and complex negotiations with targeted suppliers.
• Maintains accurate status of sourcing activities including productivity identified and achieved. Delivers weekly reporting of sourcing status.
• Reviews and negotiates final terms (simple to moderate). Ensures final terms are consistent with agreements reached at negotiations.
• Compiles and analyzes data and maintains historical information.
• Collaborates with management and team to review current processes and make improvements. Contributes to the development of new processes, procedures, techniques and standards.
• Drives continuous improvement, customer relations and team building.
• Serves as a consultant on matters pertaining to budget development, procurement and vendor management.
• Champions Supplier Diversity initiatives internally and externally and influences others to drive greater supplier diversity spend.
• Manages multiple ongoing projects as assigned to meet business-driven deadlines and commitments while maintaining a high level of quality.
• Consistently demonstrates high standards of integrity by supporting the Lifetime Healthcare Companies' mission and values, adhering to the Corporate Code of Conduct, and leading to the Lifetime Way values and beliefs.
• Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with the corporate privacy policies and procedures.

Level II (in addition to Level I):
• Prepares, negotiates, reviews, and approves moderately complex Request for Proposal (RFP) documents and project negotiations compliant with company policies and procedures and cost control priorities.
• Reviews and negotiates final terms (moderate to complex).
• Resolves key business term and pricing issues with supplier executive leadership.
• Regularly leads in the implementation of new processes, procedures, techniques, and standards.
• Assists in directing the activities of Sourcing Specialists I which includes coaching, mentoring, and draft document proofing.
• Communicates sourcing project information including key business terms and pricing to the Procurement Programs group (Contracting and Purchasing) to ensure contracts and purchase orders are accurate.

Level III (in addition to Level II):
• Manages large / complex supplier sourcing and contract projects.
• Reviews and negotiates final (complex) key terms and costs for implementation.
• Leads the supply chain management practices within the department.
• Supports and contributes to the development of new processes for effective administration which may include sourcing projects (Requests for Proposal, Quotes, Information, and Auctions and cost savings).
• Leads the development, enhancement, and support of the sourcing process.
• May be accountable for the recommendation, development and implementation of new processes, procedures, techniques and standards.
• May help direct the activities of Sourcing professionals from simple, routine to highly complex sourcing arrangements of strategic importance.
• Drives implementation of strategic Sourcing opportunities with the most significant impact to the corporation.
• Participates in strategic sourcing activities; including RFP's as requested.
• Identifies risks and issues, suggests alternatives that lead to the best solution.
• Directs the activities of Sourcing Specialists, including coaching, mentoring, and draft document proofing.

Minimum Qualifications:

NOTE:

In addition to using this differentiated approach to place new hires, it also provides guideposts for employee development and promotional opportunities.

All Levels:
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, information technology, finance, sales, legal or related field with three or more years of experience in procurement or contract administration preferably with a corporate strategic sourcing organization. In lieu of degree, a minimum of seven years of procurement or contract administration experience, preferably with a corporate strategic sourcing organization.
• Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.), or Certified Professional Commercial Contract Manager (CPCCM) designation desirable.
• Previous experience in contract negotiations required.
Proven track record of driving and delivering productivity initiatives and savings.
• Knowledgeable of, and able to negotiate to, all the LTHC key contract terms, applicable LTHC supplier/contracting policies and general commerce laws,
• Demonstrated strong attention to detail in reviewing documents for quality.
• Understanding of budgets and numbers.
• Working knowledge of sourcing management technology tools and skill with database administration.
• Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills, including but not limited to conflict management, team building, networking, and project management.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and database programs.
• Strong organizational, project management, critical thinking and analytical skills.

Level II (in addition to Level I):
• Five or more years of experience in strategic sourcing and contract administration or equivalent relevant field experience.
• Demonstrated process management experience and strong understanding of contractual terms and conditions.
• Experience in moderate to complex negotiations.
• Demonstrated procurement / supply chain management skills.
• Ability to review current processes and recommend and implement improvements.
• Proficiency with budgets and numbers.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and database programs.

Level III (in addition to Level II):
• Eight or more years of experience in strategic sourcing and contract administration or equivalent relevant field experience.
• Experience in supply chain management and Procure to Pay (P2P) improvement efforts.
• Subject matter expert in one or more categories / commodities.
• Demonstrated tact and poise in dealing with Senior-level management and contract professionals.
• Highly polished presentation skills, advanced teambuilding, and robust leadership skills.
• Previous experience in mentoring and training.
