Summary Description of Work

The Family and Community Well-Being Department (FCW) provides clients the tools necessary to live a healthy, self-sufficient, and fulfilling life. We do this by directly engaging the community, partnering with other organizations, and advocating on our community's behalf.

The Siembra Salud Coordinator role is to be an advocate for the families and interns they serve by engaging them in health and wellness opportunities using home-placed gardening as a catalyst. The Coordinator coordinates and implements programming and provides outreach/awareness in many areas of health, wellness, and gardening. The coordinator also:

  • Promotes the program mission among LCM stakeholders (Siembra Salud families and Siembra Salud interns)
  • Collaborates with program partners
  • Coordinates and leads department programming (Siembra Salud and Siembra Salud Health and Diversity Internship Program)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Supports the Family and Community Wellbeing (FCW) program director and Siembra Nebraska manager with strategic goals and ensures coherence among all project partners, Siembra Salud Specialists, and Siembra Salud Interns.

Leads strategic conversations and coordination between Siembra Salud and Siembra Raices (workforce project).

Collaborates closely with Siembra Nebraska to ensure strategic recruitment and evaluation of internship.

Ensures effective onboarding of interns.

Coordinates and schedules project activities (i.e intern and family workshops, job shadowing opportunities, program events).

Guides implementation of Siembra Salud and Siembra Salud internship goals by facilitating communication, shared problem-solving, alignment of training and curriculum development, and project evaluation and related data reporting among project partners.

Fosters improved skills and knowledge related to concepts of food insecurities, public health, the social determinants of health, and community engagement among the program's families, interns, and staff.

Plans and facilitates Siembra Salud and Siembra Salud internship partner meetings and communication to support alignment of efforts across partners to minimize redundancies, align strategies and practices, encourage shared problem-solving, and conduct outreach and education as needed.

Develops and maintains relationships with Siembra Salud and Siembra Salud Internship content-specific experts and community leaders.

Maintains understanding of project challenges and works with partners to develop coordinated solutions to address them.

Facilitates data collection, analysis, reporting and dissemination across all program partners and stakeholders, and ensures adherence to quality measures.

Assists the Family and Community Wellbeing program director in identifying opportunities for funding, developing budgets, and enabling communication with partners regarding project expenses.

Participates in meetings, task forces, advisories, etc. and speaks before community stakeholders on behalf of the project and LCM; facilitates media requests and program highlights across partners.

Represents the LCM as the point of contact (POC) between the organization and Heartland Workforce Solution's WIOA programs (Title I financially assisted programs).

Identifies health, urban agriculture, food systems needs, issues and opportunities in the Omaha metropolitan area.

Serves as a professional representative of the Latino Center of the Midlands and follows the organization mission and policies.

Competencies

Program Development -Able to develop and implement a plan to carry out the Siembra Salud and Siembra Salud internship goals including program activities, resource management and the development of feasible timelines.

Inquiry - Able to skillfully assess current conditions by gathering and analyzing information, identify opportunities and probe for deeper understanding.

Facilitation - Previous experience facilitating multi-partner and/or cross-sector programs. Able to engage partners and stakeholders, moderate discussions, seek opportunities to share knowledge, and support learning among all Siembra Salud stakeholders.

Communications - Clearly expresses ideas and thoughts orally and in written form and exhibits good listening and comprehension skills. Community outreach, communication and/or marketing experience preferred. Personal and professional qualities that allow for effective working relationships with multiple partners and community leaders.

Conflict Resolution - Able to guide problem-solving among stakeholders and project partners and account for the organizational needs and goals of each. Has the ability to identify opportunities to clarify communication and address the needs of multiple partners.

Planning/Organizing - Experience in program planning, leading staff and activities, and implementation of program plans. Prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently, and plans for additional resources; sets goals and objectives.

Customer Service - Manages client concerns, especially difficult or emotional situations and responds promptly to customer needs.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language

Must be fluent in Spanish and English.
