The Senior Training Specialist position is responsible for planning and leading the development of employees within specified organizations ranging from 200-1500 people. This position will work within the Training and Development team and subject matter experts across the organization to assess needs, procure or create training and deliver courses. Key responsibilities include applying project management principals to manage the development of multiple learning programs. This involves defining training requirements, collaborating with Subject Matter Experts (SME's), curating and/or developing viable and meaningful training content to meet requirements, determining the best delivery medium based on audience scale, organizing courses into discreet curriculum paths/learning plans, and leveraging the learning management system and training vendors to track and report outcomes.
Management Skills:

  • Organization Needs Assessment - Able to lead formal needs assessment sessions with executives and managers and translate needs into training solutions and organization development plans.
  • Training Curation and Vendor Management - Able to conduct vendor searches, procure training programs, and monitor utilization. Able to work with project sponsors, multiple subject matter experts, and training vendors to gather information and translate into useful program content.
  • Manage Training Development Projects - Able to bring small teams together to carry out a specific set of tasks. Knows how to leverage collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams and SharePoint to share documents, assign tasks, and collaborate to get things done.

Training and Presentation Skills:

  • Course Design and Development - Experience defining learning objectives, storyboarding content, and creating courses utilizing presentation or authoring tools. Includes developing interactive exercises and assessments of learning and validating learning through quizzes and practice demonstrations.
  • Training Delivery - Experience conducting training sessions to 6 or more people. Knowledge of learner types and various training approaches that encourage student focus and retention.
  • Course Production and Publication - Familiar with slide/course development tools that can convert static training materials to animated and online video formats for self-paced learning. Experience with course authoring tools, file formats, and LMS systems.

Experience in these areas is a plus, but not required:

  • Experience with Technical training, specifically cloud platforms (MS Azure, AWS, Google)
  • Familiarity with technical training vendors such as Pluralsight or A Cloud Guru
