We will count on you to:

  • This role will involve operational support, management and solution design of the Marsh & McLennan Global Citrix environment
  • Investigate and diagnose complex service issues, working with users, clients, other staff and suppliers as appropriate. Resolve such business impacting issues to maintain overall service performance and meet OLA's.
  • Use enterprise management systems software (CA ServiceDesk, HP Insight Manager, BigFix) and appropriate analysis equipment to identify and report on service performance, including proposals and solutions for improvement.
  • Monitor and resolve ongoing operational issues with Citrix covering multiple farms on Citrix XenApp 6.5 & 7.15 LTSR (1200+ Servers). Solution, design and provisioning of new infrastructure based on new enterprise level application roll-outs.
  • Ensure all corporate processes are adhered to ensuring changes to the enterprise services infrastructure are fully documented following the best practice principles of ITIL.
  • Estimate and plan small to medium sized projects or parts of larger projects, organizing own work effectively, communicating with all stakeholders and colleagues appropriately and providing technical / competency leadership to others.
  • Take responsibility within project roles for all stages of the life cycle for software/hardware development of complex enterprise-wide services, including investigation, analysis, specification, design, construction, testing, maintenance, upgrade and migration.
  • Assist with the selection of appropriate standard procedures and tools, and carry out defined tasks associated with the planning, installation, upgrade, operation, control and maintenance of infrastructure components that host enterprise services.
  • Investigate, assess and architect new technical features to stabilize or exploit existing technology investments.


What you need to have:

  • An excellent understanding of large scale and complex Citrix environments; Citrix XenApp 6.x& 7.x, Web Interface/StoreFront, Citrix Provisioning Services 7.x and Citrix App Layering. The concepts, logic and most importantly experience of planning, implementing and managing large Citrix farms, utilising enterprise monitoring tools such as Citrix Director.
  • Detailed knowledge and experience of AppSense/Ivanti Environment Manager and Citrix Workspace Environment Manager (WEM).
  • Awareness of Citrix NetScaler 11.x (VPX/MPX) technologies and integration with Citrix StoreFront/Web Interface including multi-factor authentication (RSA/Okta)
  • An excellent technical understanding of Microsoft server technologies is essential. An understanding of software and hardware technologies such as Nutanix, HP server technologies, SAN fabrics and NetApp's is beneficial but not essential.
  • An excellent understanding of Microsoft Active Directory and its relation to group policy and group administration and management for Citrix environments. Understanding of Group Policy Administrative Templates and management of Microsoft Office 2010/2016/O365, Internet Explorer and Windows Server 2008 R2/2012 R2;2016 &2019, clustered solutions and data replication.
  • Understanding and support experience of working within a multiple Forest, multiple Domain Active Directory Environments.
  • A MCSE and/or Citrix qualification is required or relevant experience easily identifiable. We would assume good industry experience within the Citrix field.
  • Expert in Microsoft enterprise wide services; the concepts and logic of managing enterprise wide domain services, covering the principles of TCP/IP with respect to routing and broadcast issues as they affect Microsoft operating systems.
  • A good understanding of Network Security Architecture would be of benefit. Understand how to implement security models for perimeter network defences and DMZ architecture. Example: Firewalls, Application hardening, Intrusion Detection.
  • A good working knowledge in other Microsoft technology disciplines; Exchange, SQL Server 2012 and newer, SCCM would be useful.
  • Knowledge of non-Microsoft Operating Infrastructure; Knowledge of Technical Infrastructure (hardware, databases, operating systems, local area networks etc) used within the organisation. Examples: UNIX, NAS, Oracle, Peoplesoft, EMC SAN, Backup technologies.
  • Acquiring understanding of the underlying issues in complex problems or situations by correctly relating these to simpler or better understood concepts, models or previous experiences and sharing this with the team.
  • Has a systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Understanding the needs of the internal or external customer and keeping them in mind when taking actions or making decisions.
  • Influencing and persuading others to take a specific course of action.
  • Acquiring understanding of a problem or situation by breaking it down systematically into its component parts and identifying the relationships between these parts and leading others to the solution.
  • Keeping overall business / group objectives and strategies in mind, and not being deflected by matters of detail.
  • Is able to plan and control own and others work, selecting and utilising effectively appropriate methods, procedures, tools, equipment and standards, to meet all targets set.
  • Forms a good appreciation of the wider field of IT outside own specialisation and understands how own role relates to other IT roles and to the business activities of the employer or client.
  • Identifying gaps in the available information required to understand a problem or situation and devising means of remedying such gaps.
  • Being proactive, taking action and anticipating opportunities.
  • Is able to absorb rapidly and apply effectively, new technical information as required.
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills in formal as well as informal settings.
  • Works effectively as an individual or a team player across geographical boundaries.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels within the organization with the ability to translate business requirements in to a solution ensuring clear understanding amongst all parties


What makes you stand out:

  • Degree level education in computer sciences or equivalent.
  • MCSE / Citrix certified or relevant experience
  • Demonstrable experiencein an Intel/Microsoft/ Citrix support environment.
  • Experiencein IT infrastructure.
  • Ideally have expert knowledge in Citrix. Knowledge on other virtualization technologies such as App-V (4.x & 5.x) and VMware vCenter/vSphere and in addition Powershell and VB scripting would be extremely advantageous.
  • Candidate should be willing to occasionally work evenings/weekends, as dictated by project requirements.
