GDIT is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator with network and hardware administration experience to help provide support on our Cloud Support contract in Reston, VA.Due to the nature of work this role entails, telecommuting is not allowed and will require the employee to report full-time onsite.

The System Administrator responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Partner with and lead peers, vendors and other technical support teams (to coordinate troubleshooting, process, and resolution for incidents and problems in a timely manner).
  • Use insights gained through direct support to advocate for users, working with partner teams to identify problematic user journeys and prioritize solutions.
  • Provide remote root cause analysis of IT issues on multiple technologies and platforms, including hardware, software, tools, services, networks, integrated video and audio conferencing equipment at scale.
  • Act as an escalation point for particular regions, areas of expertise or technical support channels.
  • Ability to support 24/7 operations.
  • Work in a disconnected region understanding STIG and hardening requirements.
  • Develop scripts, tools, processes, or solutions to prevent problems, improve user productivity and automate recurring tasks as part of longer term and global service improvements.



Required Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret security clearance and the ability to be upgraded to TS/SCI
  • Able to obtain a DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification within 60 days from start of employment
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field OR equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
  • 3+ years work experience with the design, installation, administration & maintenance of Windows systems.
  • 3 years of experience with incident or emergency response coordination.
  • Experience in technical systems administration, software engineering, digital forensics, security engineering, or privacy engineering.
  • Experience in supporting Windows, Mac OS, Unix, Networking, scripting and automation, application troubleshooting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills needed to work with business partners, engineering, operations and vendors
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with a service-oriented mindset
  • Be able to lift and move computer equipment within a data center
  • Quick learner, detail oriented; demonstrable thoroughness and strong ownership of work
  • Good team player with a strong willingness to participate and help others
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a virtual team environment as well as independently



Desired Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification
  • Experience with the design, installation, administration & maintenance of Linux based systems.
  • Experience in creating or optimizing deployment and/or support processes for desktops, laptops, video conferencing, wireless devices, software, and patches.
  • Experience in creating scripts to automate common tasks.
  • Understanding of enterprise networking including mobile solutions, IT change management, local and wide area network (LAN/WAN), and mobile computing environments.
  • Excellent understanding of IT infrastructure and ability to troubleshoot issues.
  • Ability to adjust quickly to changing priorities and make effective decisions with a limited amount of information.
  • Excellent customer service, organizational, prioritization, multitasking, communication, and leadership skills.
