Job Description Summary:
As a Senior System Administrator your responsibilities include supervising our Operations team, monitoring system performance and configuring new software and hardware. To be successful in this role, you should have excellent troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience with various operating systems.This primary responsibility of this role revolve around monitoring the performance of all software and hardware, installing servers, configuring systems, and making sure every technical aspect is running smoothly.

CaaS - Container as a Service CaaS is a model where IT organizations and developers work together to build, ship, and run their applications on premises or in any cloud-based service. With CaaS, developers can build and deploy applications in a self-service manner. PayPal's internal CaaS is named Genesis. It offers container-based virtualization. Genesis handles the underlying infrastructure to support and schedule these container workloads.Genesis is able to orchestrate requests across all data centers from anywhere.

The CaaS team is responsible for implementing next generation cloud platforms in a hybrid cloud setting to support PayPal business teams to scale their applications that serve millions of customers worldwide and process billions of dollars in payments.Understand our products and services to push our technology forward with respect to functionality, performance, reliability, and scalability.Your role includes advising on the alignment of operations with information systems, writing code and scripts, and ensuring the seamless deployment of software.

Your day to day

  • You will build creative, brand new solutions from scratch.
  • Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes
  • Building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure.
  • Identifying technical problems and developing software updates and 'fixes'
  • Working with software developers and softwareengineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended
  • Work closely to design and develop robust Security solutions to meet client requirements for functionality, scalability, and performance


What do you need to bring

  • Strong fundamentals and hands-on experience working with docker/containerization technology.
  • Working knowledge on any one of these cluster managers: Mesos/Kubernetes/Docker Swarm. Mesos/K8
  • Strong 8+ years experience on Linux/system knowledge
  • Strong understanding of fundamental distributed system principles.
  • 5+ Experience in go or python
  • Working knowledge on EKS & GKE
  • Hands-on experience with Ansible and Puppet
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
