At GDIT, we foster a people-centric environment. As a Systems Administrator Advisor, you will be trusted to work on projects related to the role. In this role, a typical day will include:
- Provide day-to-day O&M and User support across multiple networks to include:
- Windows Server Administration
- Linux Systems Administration
- Desktop/Laptop/Peripheral support for very active engineering staff
- VMWare Administration
- Task automation using Powershell, Javascript, or similar tools
- Basic Network Support(Cisco switches, routers, firewalls and telephones)
- System Backups & COOP Planning
- Maintain system compliance(hardening, patching, vulnerability remediation)
- Provide systems engineering/solutions development for customer requirements using above technologies
- Develops technical solutions for the management of networks, software, hardware, configurations, and architectures
- Provides interpretation to systems matters that are moderately complex in nature
- Provides troubleshooting support for system hardware and software issues that are highly complex in scope
- Trains end users on the proper use of hardware and software. May train large groups of end users
- Performs advance software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages
- Applies advanced knowledge in monitoring and tuning the system to achieve optimum performance levels
- Provides guidance to less experienced personnel on workstation/server data integrity by implementing standard software and hardware solutions
- Leads data/media recoverability by following a schedule of system backups and database archive operations
- Conducts advanced to complex hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines
- Ensures that performance and security of computers meet the needs of network users.
- Uses extensive independent judgement and is unsupervised
- Recognized subject matter expert in job area typically through advanced education and work experience.
- Manage large projects with limited oversight from manager
- Evaluate and assesses existing systems and plans long-term strategies
- May coach and review the work of less-experienced professionals
- May serve as a team or task leader. (Not a people manager)
REQUIRED SKILLS
- BA/BS AND 8 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and professional experience
- TS/SCI with Polygraph
- Security+ certification or ability to obtain in a short amount of time
- Demonstrated knowledge with Windows Server 2012R2/2016/2019, Active Directory Administration, Group Policy management, DHCP, DNS, and WSUS
- Demonstrated knowledge with common Linux platforms
- Demonstrated knowledge with Windows desktop operating systems and office productivity software
- Demonstrated knowledge with Cisco network technologies
- Understanding of enterprise backup methodologies
- Ability to provide printer/scanner/fax support
- Ability to follow and create process documentation
- Strong organizational and record keeping skills
