Job Description Summary

We're currently seeking a full-time senior modeler responsible to provide critical programming and analytical support in the Asset Liability Management Function's Enterprise Analytics and Reporting team. The ALM team houses the following teams: collateral, investment management, liquidity/cash reporting, and asset modeling. The role will have substantial impact to all these teams and help guide them towards improvement.

The modeler will develop, maintain and improve liquidity stress testing models within the Python platform and support improvements within the general ALM function. The role requires high competency in Python and VBA. The role is currently remote, with a plan for Hybrid model tentatively starting in April 2022. The office location is in the Baltimore inner harbor area.Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Work with different ALM teams to understand process and system so the modeler can make improvements
  • Work with audit and vendors to understand and validate regulatory margining rules including using ISDA's Standard Initial Margin Model (SIMM)
  • Ownership of Excel macros used in current production and continue its improvements and maintenance as dictated by business users
  • Completion of a liquidity stress testing framework built entirely in Python
  • Provide updates to management as needed
  • Proactively resolve potential analytical issues with escalation as appropriate
  • Lead action plan development that support the business' strategic direction and goals by developing vision, setting standards and communicating ideas



Qualifications

  • High proficiency in Python, VBA, and SQL
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, actuarial science, finance, business, or related field plus 5-10 years of related working experience
  • Strong ability to summarize technical information in emails or calls
  • Must be a self-starter and doer
  • Ability to problem solve or troubleshoot with minimal supervision; ability to troubleshoot code errors
  • Ability to develop models stated in industry papers
  • Understand basic financial product valuations and cash flows including fixed income and derivatives
  • Excellent attention to details



Preferred Qualifications

  • In lieu of Bachelor's degree with 5-10 years of experience, would consider Masters in STEM with 2-5 years of related experience or PhD in STEM
  • Demonstrates high judgment, organization and prioritization skills
  • Graduate degree in mathematics, actuarial science, finance, business, or related field
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills articulating issues and resolutions
  • Excellent project management or process visualization skills
  • Works well under pressure and within time constraints to effectively accomplish individual and team objectives.
  • Experience with process transformation projects and database design and usage
  • Understanding of ALM concepts such as hedging, liquidity, cash flow processes
  • Actuarial Science background
