Job Description

The Senior Manager, Strategic Initiatives will be a key member of Visa’s business unit supporting several global cross-functional projects. The individual will be responsible for partnering with internal and external stakeholders to solve complex problems, program management, and execution within the Strategic Initiatives Team. This role will be based in San Francisco or New York.

Key Responsibilities

  • Structure and solve business problems, collaborating and coordinating with a range of internal stakeholders to make recommendations on a wide range of issues, including pricing, payment success, and emerging segments.
  • Work across functions including strategy, product, marketing and other key teams, driving key strategic initiatives forward through collaboration from concept to focused, resourced execution plans with paths to scaled implementation.
  • Create rigorous and accessible analytic and strategic frameworks to evaluate opportunities
  • Develop clear and concise executive level communications. Communicate recommendations to senior management, internal and external stakeholders in a clear, concise and impactful way

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
7 years’ experience with a BS/BA or 5 years with an Advanced degree or 2 years with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications:
• 8 years’ experience with a BS/BA or 7 year’s experience with an Advanced degree or 3 years with a PhD, preferably with two years in a top tier management consultancy coupled with a solid track-record of operating in an in-house corporate strategy role or managing operations of a function or business unit is strongly preferred
• MBA preferred
• Experience and in-depth knowledge of financial services and the payments business
• A proven track record of delivering high impact results working on projects in the areas of corporate strategy, growth initiatives and new market/segment/business strategies
• Global or multi-national business experience is preferred
• Ability to structure and manage complex projects and processes with multiple stakeholders
• Superior analytical and problem solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to influence and build credibility with senior functional and regional leaders within Visa. Team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic and flexible.
• Proactive and effective communicator. Experienced at presenting information to senior levels, with ability to facilitate group discussions and debate and proven ability to influence and communicate effectively across geographic and functional line

Work Hours:
• Incumbent must make themselves available during core business hours.
Travel Requirements:
• This position requires the incumbent to travel for work 25% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
• This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, and reach with hands and arms.
