We are looking for a candidate who is genuinely excited about working with internal entrepreneurs and innovators to identify great new business opportunities, and work cross-organizationally in exploring, validating and assessing those opportunities to turn them into funded internal startups. This role has a broad scope, being part of the internal-VC type of team to work thru a pipeline of diverse new business ideas, and hence we are seeking a candidate with a wide dynamic range of business, marketing, and technical acumen. Someone who has worked in corporate development/strategy, corporate ventures with prior strong technical foundation and some startup experience will be a great potential candidate.
Preference will be given to candidates who have strong awareness of the semiconductor industry, but bring more systems and software mindset, along with a good understanding of current and emerging business models pursued in the industry on top of the traditional product sales business models.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
• Work with Micron's Incubation Office on ideas pipeline development, pipeline assessment and supporting various start-up teams with market and business analysis to help them create excellent fundable business plans.
• Understand clear competitive positioning, analyze competitive strategies, and develop Micron counter strategies to achieve target business objectives.
• Work with customers and partners as necessary in development of joint strategies as appropriate in support of incubation ideas.
• Provide decision support and recommendation to management on ideas to take forward.
• Working across external industry ecosystem and internal business units to look for white spaces and new opportunities for Micron. Develop end-to-end strategies around these emerging areas and provide recommendations to executive staff.
• If needed, provide initial business leadership to the startup-team till it can be staffed with it's own dedicated leadership.
• Drive continuous development of enhancement of Micron's Incubation program, including bringing best practices from the industry.
Required Skills & Experience:
• Excellent executive and external facing communication skills. Ability to clearly articulate, create succinct presentations and communicate with subject matter expertise and passion.
• Broad experience in some of the domains related to Micron's current business: like Data Center, Compute and Storage sub-systems, Deep Learning platforms and solutions, Intelligent Edge, etc. Deeper understanding of Storage Industry is highly desirable.
• Excellent understanding of the state of the art, customer pain points and customer behavior in some of the above markets. Breadth of experience across multiple domains may be highly valued.
• Strong prior experience either leading a P&L of a sizeable product line/business or driving marketing function for a business.
• Direct startup experience or prior experience working with startups for investment analysis and business plan development is highly desirable
• Strong acumen to make timely and hard decisions in disposition of ideas, as well as tenacity to pursue what may look like very difficult but valuable ideas. High tolerance to ambiguity.
• Ability to work across many x-functional organizations including technology, BU, finance, legal, to align support for the new emerging startups. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to motivate the team.
• Excellent organization skills and experience working with distributed teams.
• A good industry network of partners and customers is a plus.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in STEM or Business/Finance related field. Master's or MBA is strongly preferred
• 8+ years of industry experience across relevant strategy, marketing, product management functions with strong technical foundation
