The Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) and Real World Evidence (RWE) scientist will be responsible for developing clinical evidence - utilizing health claims linked to multi-modal data - for products across the Tempus portfolio, with the end goal of achieving broad coverage and favorable reimbursement. This role will contribute to shaping Tempus’ clinical evidence development plans and communicate results to various internal and external stakeholders (including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), private payers, and the U.S. Preventive Services Task force (USPSTF)). This position will work cross-functionally to tailor clinical endpoints and messages to the applicable stakeholders, effectively communicating and presenting complex technical concepts and quantitative analyses to both internal and external audiences.
Responsibilities
- Design and perform economic and clinical utility studies to develop evidence for payer coverage across the Tempus product portfolio
- Analyze retrospective health claims linked to sequencing results and clinical outcomes
- Serve as the subject-matter expert in strengths and limitations of health claims data
- Apply methodologies to account for biases and missingness in real-world data
- Ensure appropriate economic and outcomes endpoints are integrated into Tempus studies
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including Medical, Commercial Markets, Data Science and Biostatistics
Suggested Qualifications (feel encouraged to apply even if not all are met):
- PhD (or equivalent experience) in health economics, epidemiology, statistics, or related field
- 2+ years of industry experience in analyzing real-world health claims data
- Experience working with datasets in at least one of the following areas: genetic testing, oncology, pharmaceuticals
- Strong computational skills, preferably with fluency in Python or R
- Track record of peer-reviewed publications in well-respected journals; especially in those where you played a driving role
- Excellent communication via speech, text, and graphics
- Strategic thinker and implementer
- A sense of humility and an eagerness to contribute to a supportive, interdisciplinary team
