Position Description

At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Director, Supply Chain to join the Electrical Wiring Systems Team (remotely) in West Hartford, CT to manage all activities associated within Supply Chain for Electrical Wiring Devices (EWS) division of Legrand. This leadership role will be responsible for the development and execution of end-to-end supply chain to reduce total costs while improving service levels for EWS.

What Will You Do?

Main Activities:

Organization: Organization Leadership

Main Interface: Internal (Including Legrand Group) - Purchasing, Engineering (Product Development), Marketing, Manufacturing and Finance. External - Vendors both Domestic and International

Budget: Develops overall budget for supply chain function and actively participates in the development of the overall EWS division budget. Manages to budget during fiscal year.

Main Job Duties:

As a member of the EWS senior management team, contributes to overall strategy and policy decisions for EWS. Provides leadership to EWS Supply Chain activities with focus on the following:

  • In the event of the need for a new supplier generated by a new or redesigned product or line extension, engage with the internal team in developing the sourcing strategy.
  • Collect and present the requirements such as design, specifications, packaging, margin, etc. to multiple vendors and analyze their capabilities and competitiveness.
  • Set, with the input of others, the Sourcing strategy; Make vs Buy, LCC vs North America, Sole Sourcing, and Risk Management.
  • Identify, Evaluate and Select potential vendors following a scan of the global marketplace and an initial qualification.
  • Approve and qualify potential vendors through Audits, Reference Checks, Analysis of Financials, Technical Reviews, Quality Program Review and Review of Production systems and overall capabilities.
  • Negotiate contracts with approved vendors and hand off day to day activities to the Purchasing function.
  • Lead trade compliance and transportation function for Legrand EWS.
  • Continually identify, evaluate, and implement process improvements that result in both ability to redirect efforts towards higher value activities and improved product availability.
  • Develop Policies and Practices for the Supply Chain organization when necessary.
  • Work with Finance to evaluate cost savings, obtain reports/information.
  • Contribute to development of annual operating plans/budgets for EWS brands.
  • Develop and administer expense budget for EWS Supply Chain.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or as required to achieve business goals of the EWS Division and Legrand in North America.



Qualifications

The candidate should have demonstrated leadership skills and be able to instill confidence in the entity leadership teams. This individual should have a high energy level and the demonstrated ability to achieve established goals. A solid understanding of financial metrics including profit and loss statements along with a well-rounded business background, including strong negotiations skills, are requisites for this position.

The ideal candidate for the Sr. Director Supply Chain (EWS) position should possess the following qualifications/attributes:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, purchasing, engineering or related field of study.
  • MBA preferred


Experience:

  • Senior management experience
  • 10+ years of demonstrated success in purchasing and/or sourcing positions of increasing responsibility.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment


Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of a sourcing/purchasing function.
  • Knowledge and understanding of sourcing strategy; electrical and communications industry product and supplier familiarity is a plus.
  • Proven ability to formulate financial and operating plans and drive actual results of the business to meet a plan.
  • Excellent management skills, timely decision making, effective delegation needed to ensure goals are achieved and financial objectives are met.
  • Superb business judgment coupled with strong strategic planning and analytic skills, as well as a proven capacity for rendering cost-conscious, objective business decisions
  • A self-confident take charge leader with a broad business perspective who can develop constructive working relationships both inside and outside the Company
  • Well organized, capable of handling a variety of issues and assignments within the organization.
  • Effective in oral and written communications.
  • Able to work effectively in a team and/or matrix management environment.
  • Presence and bearing commanding respect among fellow managers and executives both within and outside the Company.
