About the role

We are looking for a highly experienced planning leader to bring leadership, innovation and depth of expertise to our planning processes.  The senior director inventory planning will be responsible for ensuring that we are accurately forecasting customer demand, determining optimal inventory needs, and ensuring that our inventory is allocated efficiently and optimally through the supply chain, from production to the customer. They are responsible for making sure our customers get the product they want, when they want it, while managing to company financial and strategic objectives.

The Sr. Director Planning will be responsible for building a demand and supply planning team, processes, and tools that can adapt to changing and/or competing priorities as we build and scale our business. This leader will own all forward looking daily sales and inventory forecasts at the sku level, which optimize customer satisfaction along with profitability. This leader will also own analytics and strategy to optimize inventory and balance between stockouts and waste.

This person is an analytical problem solver who can break-down complex concepts into executive level insights and tactical execution plans.  They will lean on their deep foundational knowledge of forecasting inventory management and have demonstrated success in driving innovation within a dynamic, growth business. This person thrives under pressure and can work quickly and effectively in a fast-paced highly entrepreneurial environment. S/he knows how to “fail fast” and can quickly pivot direction when needed. This person is also humble, hardworking, and can collaborate laterally and vertically across the organization.

  • Responsible for creation and management of demand forecasting logic and process for a complex sku-intensive business with varying lead times and shelf life, across a multi-nodal network
  • Work with internal and external engineering and product teams to build a demand and inventory planning application which integrates with in-house and ERP systems and supports a flexible process
  • Hire, develop, and lead a team which includes product managers, data scientists, and business leaders
  • Collaborate with cross functional leadership including Fleet Operations, Culinary, Commercial, and execute leaders to align on and communicate forecasts and progress against forecast
  • Create and evolve demand and inventory analytics that provide deep insights to drive business opportunities, improve forecast accuracy, and inform optimal processes
  • Develop and monitor ongoing KPIs through dashboards and exception reporting
  • Advance the forecasting function and processes by leveraging continuous learning to grow team and organizational capabilities and evaluating department structure to deliver against those capabilities.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to team to ensure ongoing professional development of team members.

The experience you have

  • 10+ years of professional experience in demand/supply planning, analytics, or inventory management, ideally in a consumer goods environment
  • 7+ years proven success leading a team of managers and individuals in a fast-paced, demanding environment
  • Degree in Industrial engineering, operations, supply chain, statistics, or other similar discipline; Masters preferred
  • Excel macros and SQL mastery; excellent communication and writing skills
  • High levels of critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and comfort with ambiguity
  • Ability to communicate complex system and topics in a clear and concise manner
