This role serves as the leader for the product category reporting to both the Vice President of eCommerce and the respective category GMM/GBM in the Merchant organization. They are the owner of the online business for their product category(s), understanding results, identifying opportunities, and working cross functionally to deliver the sales plan. This role is a combination of tactical and strategic often working across multiple time horizons (ex: current season, next season, and 2+ seasons).

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Own eCommerce category strategy to drive financial targets and KPIs
  • Main partner/leader with VP eCommerce, DMM, and GMM/GBM for delivering sales and business targets
  • Represents Category Management teams with company cross-functional initiatives as needed
  • Lead in season and future eCommerce direction through strategic internal and external cross functional partnerships
  • Lead development of and partner on digital category strategy including with Site Merchandising, Marketing, and Merchant/Planning, among others, that will deliver the business and sales plans.
  • Serve as the leader for the product category, working directly with the Merchant leadership and Brand Partners to develop a clear path to grow the digital business along with actions to deliver those results.
  • Influence brand partners in conjunction with merchant team, to identify and activate levers to achieve targets based on KPI trends including financials, site metrics, customer, and marketing results.
  • Cross functional owner to ensure actionable insights are uncovered and surface new ways to drive sales.
  • Influence inventory and assortment planning (including breadth/depth and allocation) by leveraging eCommerce and competitive data to impact future business (ex: depth in key items, brand/class planning, tailored assortments, exclusives, inventory allocation)
  • Lead and manage a team of direct and indirect reports to develop and execute strategies, iterating as needed.
  • Utilize effective communication skills both written and verbal to clearly communicate business needs and objectives, results, and expectations.
  • Lead their team to identify reporting and visibility needed to gain timely insights into performance, including working with cross functional teams as needed.
  • Amplify digitally assisted selling by partnering with cross functional teams to ensure actions are tied to desired business goals and metrics.
  • Regular communication to various leaders in the organization on business results, and ad hoc questions as required.
  • Partnership with Site Monetization & Merch/Planning on aligning forecasts with each product division and lead the development of KPI forecasting (Fill Rate, Return Rate, Demand, Traffic, Conv, AOV, etc.) for each product division and for top brand partners.
  • Tailors' leadership style to appropriately set expectations and coach for growth for different levels of direct reports
  • Sets goals for Associates in alignment with department objectives and supports in Associates in achieving them
  • Provides consistent and frequent communication so all team members are aware of the financial performance, goals, and expectations.
  • Determines strategic objectives in partnership with VP eCommerce and sets priorities accordingly
  • Supports the VP eCommerce in communicating business results, including backfilling for VP as needed.
  • Fulfills leadership responsibilities, including attending daily, weekly, and monthly meetings, as applicable
  • Facilitates cross-functional communication across departments (i.e., Site Monetization, Site Merchandising, FP&A, Merch & Planning, Marketing, Operations) to maximize collaborative efforts.



Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant experience, luxury retail fashion experience preferred
  • 4-year degree preferred
  • Demonstrated change leadership within team and organization
  • An expertise of and passion for digital retail landscape and analytics
  • Strong analytical nature with an ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions and recommendations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to effectively build and manage relationships
  • Ability to understand and drive big picture positive results and revenue for NMO total
  • Manage a business by bringing the "art" to the "science" - use your intuition and expertise fueled by data and analytics to maximize business and deliver a best-in-class online experience in your category.
  • Self-starter who relishes being an owner, getting involved in the details of the business and working with cross functional partners to make things happen.
  • Proven strength in both oral and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and deliver presentations to senior management and large groups in a professional, concise, and direct manner. Possess and ability to influence others.
  • Confidence to manage up, secure buy-in from senior leadership, and navigate challenging situations.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, ability to acquire information from multiple parties and bring structure to business processes
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects with competing demands for resources
  • Previous people leadership experience including developing, training, and growing team members to maximize their full potential.
