Role Description:

As Oak Street Health continues to grow, there is an increased need to more effectively process claims and internally costed utilization to bend the organizational cost curve. This role will work directly with the Director of BI Governance to speed up the migration of both legacy and new health plans to Oak Street’s Milliman MedInsight analytic platform. The end state will be the ongoing maintenance of the Milliman MedInsight analytic platform for Oak Street on a monthly cadence. 

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • For legacy health plans, manage end-to-end incorporation into the HCG Grouper and benchmarking

  • For new health plans, oversee end-to-end coordination of these plans into the HCG Grouper and benchmarking in conjunction with BI’s Payer Data Team

  • Once costed internal utilization is available, oversee end-to-end coordination of these data into the HCG Grouper and benchmarking in conjunction with BI’s future Cost Accounting Team

  • Lead the data quality and governance oversight of this work leveraging Milliman’s Actual and Benchmark models as well as any other models that Oak Street has to develop on its own

  • Manage periodic processing of organizational data on the Milliman MedInsight analytic platform; end state would be a monthly cycle

    • Creating action plans to obtain this end state

  • Partner with operational analytic teams to execute data cleansing strategies to aid the use of claims and internal data to support Oak Street’s mission

  • Other duties, as assigned

 

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years of experience in a healthcare role

    • Preference will be given to candidates with very strong healthcare data experience, whether in IT or as an embedded technology SME in operations

    • Previous experience working with large healthcare claims and/or EHR databases and their content favored

  • Experience with Milliman’s MedInsight HCG Grouper and benchmarking; knowledge of other proprietary analytic hierarchy will be considered.

  • Programming/development experience with MS SQL Server 2014 or newer

  • Knowledge of software development and product life cycle

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet software

  • Healthcare informatics, analytics, and reporting knowledge

  • Data warehousing and/or large IT project experience

  • Experience working with large data sets; common extracts will often have millions of claim lines

  • Someone willing to make 2-4 annual trips to the Oak Street’s corporate headquarters for face-to-face meetings, as needed

  • Strong working knowledge of healthcare concepts and their relationships with corresponding data (operations, membership, and finance)

  • Familiarity with healthcare claims data and data analytic platforms

  • Ability to prioritize and manage concurrent projects

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Execute work with exceptional attention to detail on all project tasks

  • Ability to work independently and within a diverse team environment

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to prioritize tasks with little supervision and work under time pressure

  • Ability to be a team player in a matrix environment

  • Client consulting experience, especially end-user education of analysts and decision makers at all levels of the organization

  • US work authorization
