Risk Manager
As a member of the EDML Chief of Staff Risk & Compliance team, you will be responsible for providing advice and guidance to a group of technology delivery teams on potential risks. You will act as a leader working across the enterprise risk groups to develop and implement risk management solutions to ensure continued stability and success. You will be expected to drive organizational change to better manage risk in an open, collaborative environment where new ideas and solutions are welcomed. In this role, you will apply your strategic leadership, proactive thinking, problem solving, collaboration and communication skills and the ability to adapt to change quickly.
Organizational Summary:
The EDML (Enterprise. Data. Machine Learning.) organization delivers exceptional technology, products, services and processes to support our Data and Machine Learning ecosystems and our core functions to support our holistic operations for Capital One as an enterprise. EDML consists of 5 towers (Center for Machine Learning (C4ML), Risk Tech, Finance Tech, People Tech (HR and Corp Tech) and Enterprise Data) and a Horizontal Chief of Staff office supporting all the towers. We have ~1,300 associates in our organization and are located across various geographies including: Richmond, NoVA, NYC, Boston, San Francisco, and Plano. This position in the EDML Chief of Staff Risk & Compliance team is looking for a highly motivated professional with excellent organization, analytical and communication skills.
Responsibilities:
Partner, interact and support internal delivery teams and provide compliance guidance on Policies, Standards, and Procedures
Enhance the risk strategy to minimize the overall risk on complex projects and emerging technologies
Effectively collaborate and challenge our 1st line of defense (Tech/Business Delivery Teams, Enterprise Services Risk Management), 2nd line of defense (Enterprise Data Management, Cyber and Cyber Risk Management) and 3rd line of defense (Audit)
Manage audits, regulatory exams and enterprise risk initiatives; track remediation activities, and close risk findings
Use analytical skills to proactively identify risks, trends, and process improvements
Creates executive-ready presentations and materials
Staying current on the changing regulatory environment and understand the impacts to the organization
Provide oversight and guidance during risk assessments (New Products/Processes, Risk and Control Self-Assessments)
Identify opportunities and work with business stakeholders and partners to embed risk management practices into our daily operations and business processes across the organization; and
Participate with internal team members and contribute to continuous improvement of risk management practices
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree
At least 4 years of compliance or risk management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
5+ years of experience with the regulatory framework governing the financial services industry
