Responsibilities - What You Will Do:
How will you help us grow? It matters to us, and it matters to you!

  • Daily greenhouse plant care, including seeding, pollinating, transplanting, watering, harvesting and seed handling for corn, soybean, wheat and other crops.
  • Punch or cut and store small samples of plant tissue and delivery for laboratory analysis. Carefully maintain sample identity for thousands of samples at a time while maintaining proper storage conditions.
  • Assist with experiments, collecting data and maintaining records.
  • Perform routine greenhouse sanitation tasks like discarding regulated material, destroying waste, cleaning pots/containers, and cleaning and sanitizing rooms.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
Requirements - Who You Are:
What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?

  • High school diploma/GED.
  • You always pay close attention to detail, and carefully follow standard operating and safety/ergonomics protocols.
  • You have previous experience with greenhouse operations and/or plant care.
  • You have excellent communication skills, a high degree of self-motivation, possess a positive attitude and work well independently as well as a team member with minimal supervision.
  • You have good basic computer skills including experience with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook), and are willing/able to gain competency with internally developed research software.
  • You are willing and able to stand/sit for long periods of time, lift up to 30 pounds and perform repetitive work in a warm, humid greenhouse with pollen present year-round.
  • You are willing and able to work a daytime schedule and be part of the weekend rotating schedule.


Preferences - It Would Be Great If You Have:

  • Previous experience in areas including but not limited to greenhouse plant care, agronomy, horticulture, gardening, or biology research.
  • Interest in agronomic research.
