How you will make an impact: As Senior Manager of Sustainability you will play a key role in advancing our CSR performance while making it easier for customers and colleagues to understand and engage in our sustainability agenda. Get ready to make a difference! Our ideal candidate is customer centric with a broad knowledge base across social and environmental sustainability topics. They think strategically and execute tactically with outstanding organization and coordination skills for driving cross-functional projects in a matrixed environment. They also thrive on knowledge sharing and toolkit/resource development to translate complex sustainability concepts and information into materials and playbooks that are easily consumed, utilized and cascaded by others.

Responsibilities

Strategic projects

  • Bring innovative thinking and industry practices to your leadership of cross-functional working groups accountable for sustainability strategies/priorities. E.g., equity, human rights, supply chain sustainability, circularity, etc.
  • Support sustainability governance committees by drafting quarterly briefings, conducting market research, and preparing presentation materials
  • Conduct regular reviews and quality checks of sustainability data/claims/information across matrixed organization
  • Provide support as needed on other CSR team programs/initiatives


Customer engagement

  • Enable top notch customer engagements across a matrixed organization by building an internal education and training program to strengthen sustainability proficiency among key account leaders
  • Generate customer-facing sustainability case studies; create compelling content/infographics that differentiate and simplify our programs, results and impact
  • Ensure timely and accurate responses to inbound sustainability inquiries from customers and other stakeholders
  • Support executive briefings and/or engage directly with customers as needed (on sustainability topics)


Colleague engagement

  • Develop colleague awareness/knowledge of relevant sustainability topics and think outside the (in)box to use varied distribution channels. E.g., panels, podcasts, onboarding modules, etc.
  • Establish an ambassador program/network that fosters belonging and engages colleagues in contributing toward our enterprise environmental sustainability goals


Industry engagement

  • Support leadership engagement in topical convenings, industry memberships and media opportunities
  • Prioritize and lead the submission of external sustainability recognition applications
  • Track and report on the US and EU sustainability policy landscapes to shape strategic recommendations


Qualifications:

  • 8+ years' professional experience in sustainability or related field; 5+ years directly communicating with customers/clients; 5+ years project leadership experience in matrixed environment
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Masters/MBA preferred
  • Passionate about Thermo Fisher's Mission and contributions to society and the planet
  • High-energy self-starter and genuine teammate who can act as both a collaborator and an owner/leader; demonstrated ability and willingness to adjust and adapt to changing conditions
  • Growth mindset and project management skills with the ability to structure multiple cross-functional initiatives simultaneously and deliver results by building trust and consensus
  • Outstanding communicator (listening, presenting, writing) across a variety of audiences/partners from internal technical experts to Fortune 100 customers
  • Demonstrated success developing educational programming and resources and producing high-quality marketing deliverables/materials
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the global sustainability policy landscape
  • Creative, responsive, and flexible with a sense of humor
