The Opportunity
This position is a key role in the Reinsurance Administration and Accounting team responsible for reinsurance administration processing oversight, reinsurer relationships, treaty implementation, audits and quality reviews, complex issue research, and special projects. The position will work closely with other teams across the Company.
This position requires experience in the life reinsurance industry, strong attention to detail and logical thinking and problem solving skills, familiarity with insurance company operations and practices, and experience with treaty or contract interpretation. The ideal candidate has strong business acumen and technical skills, ideally with familiarity with a variety of insurance products, their features and the related transactional impacts. You’ll use your skills to help us meet our ongoing reinsurance reporting requirements, maintain strong relationships with our business partners, lead special projects, and research complex issues. The candidate will be proactive and demonstrate a passion for continuous improvement. You’ll be expected to be a vocal team member with excellent communication skills to articulate the reasoning and supporting facts for your recommendations and conclusions.

This is an opportunity for an experienced reinsurance professional focused on the administration of our large life reinsurance block, successful implementation of new products and treaties, leading our reinsurance audits, and efficiently executing on the Company’s reinsurance strategy.
The Impact
- Provide transactional oversight and quality assurance of reinsurance administration activities, developing expertise in policy-level transactions and the appropriate impact to reinsurance
- Drive productive interactions related to new product design, new releases, projects, and company strategic goals and lead the effective implementation and administration of reinsurance programs to support them
- Understand how data flows through the policy admin systems to the reinsurance area, planning appropriately for changes and prioritizing and implementing enhancements
- Maintain internal controls and consistently improve upon a strong control environment within the reinsurance administration activities
- Collaborate and partner with other MassMutual business units and corporate functions to ensure the accurate, timely and efficient submission of data and analysis required to reinsurers and to meet reporting requirements
- Contribute to our successful transition to new technology solutions to automate and improve our processes
- Identify and implement process improvements that increase the business value and efficiency of the team
- Assist in the oversight and partner with sourced resources to ensure high quality and timelines
The Minimum Qualifications
- BS in accounting, finance, statistics, mathematics, or related field; OR significant and relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a college degree requirement
- 5 years of experience working in life reinsurance
- 7 years of experience working in a large insurance organization
- Proficient with MS Excel and Office suite of products
- Experience using data to explore issues, quantify results, and present conclusions
- Continuous improvement mindset
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across cross-functional groups

The Ideal Qualifications
Experience with TAI’s Life Reinsurance platform, especially TAI.Net
- Ability to support reinsurance processes end-to-end, including treaty interpretation, data quality, transactional oversight, client reporting, analysis of results, and customer support for the reinsurers
- Skill improving business processes, including analysis of risks and impacts
- Ability to proactively partner across the organization on cross-functional projects or to resolve issues
- Experience in SQL or another database language, or familiarity with DB tools such as Alteryx and Tableau
- Experience with SAP, or other financial ledger systems
- Ability to proactively take ownership of projects and drive them through to completion
- Experience working in a Finance transformational setting
- Ability to perform independent research and prepare analyses
- Experience with best-in-class control execution/documentation
