About the role:

Operating remotely (home-based) you'll be primarily responsible for the planning, communicating, executing, closing out and measuring 10x Genomics’ external conferences and events within the Americas region. This position will report to the Associate Director, Conferences and Events in Americas Regional Marketing. The event portfolio includes but is not limited to national/regional conferences, smaller scientific conferences, bespoke events and user group meetings. This position will work closely with Sales and Marketing team to determine best-fit events, and be responsible for a set of comprehensive program assignments as the Planning Lead as well as contribute to the planning of larger, more complex programs under the guidance of another Planning Lead. 

The Regional Conference & Event Associate Manager must be a self-starter with a growth mindset. Experience in the life sciences and familiarity with the communication needs/preferences of scientists and researchers is highly desirable. Success in this role requires agility, responsiveness, the ability to collaborate cross-functionally, and strong organizational skills. 


What you will be doing: 

  • Lead the planning, organization, management and measurement of small to mid-size regional conferences, user group meetings and customer events; inclusive of owning planning team sessions & ensuring project management for pre-show, onsite, and post-show activities as well as owning day of logistics (e.g., inbound, outbound shipments)
  • Manage one or two components of larger regional conferences, national or corporate conferences, as part of a larger core planning team or working under the direction of the Associate Director of Conferences and Events or other Planning Lead
  • Plan and manage the venue selection process, contract reviews, site inspections, transportation, food and beverage, accommodations, and budget reconciliation
  • Coordinate the production of event materials including booth graphics and physical assets, agendas, badges, signage, in collaboration with brand/marketing communications team and/or agency partners
  • Work closely and collaboratively with 10x’s Event Agencies, Exhibit House, AV partner, and vendors related to assigned events  
  • Learn and master event technology to enable and track event registrations and monitor attendance
  • Ensure proper lead capture and  transfer of leads to Digital Marketing for lead clean-up and upload into SalesForce.com
  • Manage instrument, booth properties, displays, literature, giveaways and other  inventoried items with Exhibit Company and vendors
  • Deliver projects on-time and on-budget
  • Evaluate event impact by reporting on event metrics and ROI, as well as providing future conference and event recommendations, areas of improvement and adjustments to processes
  • Builds strong relationships inside and outside of the organization
  • Adhere to 10x Genomics standards of business conduct and 10x values
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and business data at all times

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A minimum of  2 years of experience in association, exhibit, meetings and/or events coordination, planning or management 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g. marketing communications, marketing, public relations, hospitality)
  • Persuasive communications skills
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, including experience using project management software (e.g. WorkFront, GDrive documents )
  • Strong computer skills - Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects across multiple stakeholders. 
  • Proven track record of meeting deadlines
  • Diplomatic and service-oriented
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to regularly move objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
  • Work requires frequent travel, including evenings and weekends, and attendance at events 

Preferred Skills:

  • Event experience in life science or biotech industry
  • Proficiency in Cvent and SFDC
  • Familiarity with procurement and accounts payable processes
  • Negotiating skills
