General Summary of Position

The Regional Manager (Group Leader) promotes Hurley & Associates farm marketing services, mentors, coaches and supervises Field Consultants. This person is responsible for the overall functioning and growth of the office(s) under their jurisdiction.

Reports to:  Chief Operating Officer

Direct Reports:  Local Field Consultants and Office Support Staff

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Uphold and exemplify Hurley & Associates mission statement to our clients, industry advocates and consultants.
  • Set direction and develop growth plans to expand market share as risk management consultants
  • Network with industry, business, and community executives and leaders in the geographic areas that your office(s) cover.
  • Provide disciplined and comprehensive marketing and risk management services to area producers to enable clients to realize economic stability
  • Mentor, supervise, train, and coach employees of the office on risk management services and tasks related to their position.
  • Protect and perform within Hurley’s policies and guidelines. Understanding the futures market operations, controls, policies and procedures.
  • Model excellent Customer Service. Coordinate overall office activities to see that clients are well cared for. Provide support for staff in resolving any client issues. Deal with customer complaints efficiently and with poise.
  • Identify and provide for the educational needs of employees, clients, and advocates on a regular basis.

 Scope of Responsibility and Decision Making

  • Recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of new employees (and/or replacement positions) and interns in accordance with established assessment processes used by Hurley & Associates. Select mentors to guide those new hires.
  • Discuss any staff performance issues with corporate to determine appropriate course of action. 
  • Provide input to annual office budget development and review monthly profit & loss statements.
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for decisions, consequences, and results having an impact on people, costs, and/or quality of service within corporate and branch office(s).

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Competencies

Management and Local Compliance

  • Futures market operations and rationale preferred
  • Understanding of farm operations, finances, and values
  • Knowledge of tools to assist in managing producer risk preferred 
  • Customer service, satisfaction, and retention skills
  • Excellent salesmanship, communication, and time management skills
  • Managing, supervising, mentoring, coaching, delegating skills

Sales and Marketing 

  • Networking within the grain industry to develop industry advocates
  • Presentation skills for public speaking and training programs
  • Ability to inspire people to take action

People Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate relationship building capabilities 

 Confidentiality Requirement

  • Has access to confidential information and, therefore, required to sign a confidentiality

agreement

Educational and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years’ experience in grain marketing preferred

Licensing or Certification Requirements

  • Series 3 license for grain brokers required within designated time after hire
  • Series 30 license for Branch Managers required within designated time after hire

 Physical Requirements

  • May be required to work more than 40 hours per week
  • Willing to travel overnight occasionally throughout the year
