Position Summary

Avantax Wealth Management, a subsidiary of Blucora and sister company to TaxAct is seeking a Regional Director - Enterprise Growth (Great Lakes Region) that will be responsible for collaborating with Avantax Wealth Management's Financial Professionals to assist these firms in driving revenue growth and/ or increasing their professional acumen as practitioners of tax centric wealth management and financial planning. The REGC will be providing sales, practice management, and overall business support in a variety of areas such as compliance, marketing, investment strategies, client interaction, succession planning, and goal setting.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Duties may include but are not limited to:

Client engagement
  • Responsible for driving revenue and asset growth and increasing advisor retention.
  • Travel to multiple practices often each (~50% of the time).
  • Foster strong relationships with 100-150 top practices as the face of Avantax Wealth Management.
  • Act as a business coach through regular, systematic phone calls, emails, and face-to-face meetings.
  • Compose and present polished phone/in-person presentations to advisors with excellent delivery and understanding of materials.
  • Help advisors grow their business by promoting sales ideas, analyzing client cases, and developing recommendations and investment strategies.
  • Maintain working knowledge of products and services of all educational partners and collaborate with advisors on where those products fit in their business.
  • Connect and foster relationships with Advisors and Educational Partners to promote growth.
  • Compose an in-depth analysis of Advisor offices to make sound business recommendations on how to grow their financial services practice.
  • Develop content for and present at various Avantax conferences and meetings.

Collaboration with internal teams
  • Act as a voice for the advisors when working together with internal team members.
  • Refer advisors to the appropriate Avantax Enterprise Growth professionals for execution support.
  • Develop marketing materials and sales campaigns with the Marketing and Enterprise Growth teams.
  • Follow up with internal team members to ensure that all advisor requests and issues are promptly addressed, and interaction details are properly tracked and shared internally.

Leadership and teamwork
  • Build strong relationships with teammates, business partners, and specialists by fostering collaboration.
  • Provide leadership and direction to internal team members, business partners, and other resources in a highly matrixed organization.

Education & Experience
  • 10+ years in a wealth management role.
  • FINRA 7 & 63 licenses required.
  • CFP designation or similar preferred.
  • Additional securities licenses and designations may be required depending on the role.
  • BS/BA in business, finance, economics, accounting, or related field.

Required skills
  • Expert in Microsoft Office; especially PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio.
  • Demonstrated ability to be an integral team member on large-scale, complex projects.
  • Highly energetic self-starter.
  • Ability to prioritize alternative solutions, drive results, and influence senior leaders in a cross-functional, diverse environment.
  • Ability to meet designated business and sales goals of assets, revenue, profitability, and client satisfaction.

Physical Demand & Work Effort
  • Keying/typing, standing, walking.
  • Sitting for an extended period.
  • Constant mental and/or visual attention; the work is either repetitive or diversified requiring constant alertness in an office environment.
  • The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during the normal performance of the job.
  • Compliance with company attendance standards.
