Florence Hospital, a campus of Mountain View Medical Center, is a 36-bed hospital offering emergency care, as well as surgical, imaging and laboratory services to residents of Pinal County. Regional Director of Emergency and Outpatient Services
Position Description:
Responsible for the effective and efficient operation of a free-standing outpatient services center, resource allocation, and staff and leadership development. Responsible for providing administrative oversight and direction, steering clinical operations, and serving as a subject matter expert and as a mentor / leader to the team.
- Provide accountability for planning, directing, leading and evaluating nursing care within the department.
- Consults with Chief Nursing Officer on nursing problems and interpretation of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met.
- Oversees the daily workflow, staffing, orientation, training, and development of employees within the department.
- Responsible for the ongoing quality/performance improvement processes related to the Emergency Department
- Promote and support a collaborative team approach in providing care for all ED patients
- Monitors customer satisfaction scores and implements plans to improve patient satisfaction
- Monitor patient volumes, quality of care, and performance of staff to identify areas for improvement
- Responsible for investigating patient, physician and staff complaints and concerns and working to resolve them
- Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members
- Maintain required competencies for self and all employees within the department
- Develop and control budgets to support initiatives.
- Serve as a process and quality improvement agent for Emergency Services, implementing projects to reduce Door-to-Doc times, improve patient satisfaction scores, and make it a great place for the Nurses to work.
- Exceeds achievement of business objectives for the outpatient center.
- Effectively works as a strategic partner with outreach professionals within the state.
- Ensures the admissions process and the center intake process is smooth, efficient, and customer focused.
- Proactively evaluates and increases client capacity through physical, staffing, medical coverage, and/or programmatic initiatives.
- Monitors market trends and implements new clinical programs that promote center growth and respond to changes in the market.
- Participates in the development and implementation of operational standards across the outpatient network.
- Oversees the reputational management initiatives within the outpatient network, including outcomes measurement and reporting, satisfaction surveys, and proactive online review.
- Promotes systems of communication and collaboration between Admissions, Business Development, Utilization Review, Finance, and clinical teams.
- Establishes a welcoming environment and strong culture of customer service throughout the outpatient network.
- Ensures compliance with all licensure, accreditations, contracts, state and federal laws.
- Facilitates ED staff meetings and participates in other committees or task forces as assigned.
- Complete annual performance evaluation for self and employees and implement plans of correction when needed
- Supports and interprets policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the hospital
- Promotes the mission, vision and values of the organization
- Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree strongly preferred (MSN, MBA, MHA, etc.)
- AZ RN license or Compact State RN license
- Must have active certifications, as required. See Steward License/Certification grid for current certification requirements.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in an ED nurse capacity.
- Minimum of five (5) years of comprehensive ED management experience at a hospital, health system, or other ambulatory setting.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an outpatient services setting.
- Strong planning, financial and communication skills required. Ability to work in a fast paced environment balancing multiple priorities and the needs of various stakeholders.
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills in order to be a clear communicator.
- Must have leadership abilities to support the clinicians, nurses and other health care workers.
- Proven strong interpersonal and independent decision making skills.
- Leadership skills to include management of human, fiscal and capital resources. Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to gather, analyze and assess data from various sources to develop quality improvement initiatives.
- Strong knowledgeable of all regulatory requirements including local, state and national regulations.
