Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm Pacific Time

Our Clinical Laboratory Operations Support organization is looking for a leader to support our fast paced Reagent Manufacturing team, and help build a technically skilled, high-functioning Reagent QC team. With an eye for operational excellence, this leader will play a key role in ensuring that all materials produced for use by our Clinical Laboratory are available on schedule and meet our high standards of quality.

As an integral department with hands-on responsibility to deliver Invitae’s mission of bringing comprehensive, clinical-grade genetic information into mainstream medicine to guide health decisions across all stages of life, our Clinical Laboratory Operations Support team members have the opportunity to impact patient lives in significant and innovative ways, while also gaining valuable skills to advance their career.

The Exciting Things You’ll Do

Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day Reagent Manufacturing and Quality Control operations
  • Drive continued process improvement programs to improve COGS and reduce TAT with a vision of scaling volume year over year
  • Provide input and coordinate the introduction of new manufacturing and QC processes through process development, tech transfer and clinical validation as a cross functional team members
  • Cultivate a culture of safety by following and holding all team members accountable to all internal and external safety regulations and procedures at all times

Technical

  • Operate as a Subject Matter Expert in manufacturing and QC processes and analysis
  • Construct structured training programs and ensure proficiency of staff; Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are written and kept up to at for all tasks required of the Reagent Manufacturing and QC teams
  • Ensure Quality Assurance and Quality Control Programs are followed and evolve to meet changing business needs
  • Guide troubleshooting and resolution of incident reports and CAPAs while driving continuous improvement

Leadership

  • Coach and mentor leaders and team members to excellence and grow their hard and soft skills to allow for advancement into new opportunities
  • Cultivate, inspire and reward innovation
  • Responsible for supervision and oversight of reagent manufacturing and QC activities with and support from the Global Clinical Laboratory Operations Support lead
  • Manage a team of ~15 Reagent Manufacturing Technicians and Reagent QC Associates, with 2-3 direct reports (Reagent Manufacturing and QC Supervisors)

The Skills You’ll Share with the TeamOperations

  • Troubleshooting skills, continuous improvement mentality, ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational skills with an high level understanding of manufacturing scaling and capacity planning

Technical

  • Possess an active, valid CLS license issued by California to perform high complexity testing, preferred but not required
  • Bachelor's degree in life sciences or equivalent science related studies preferred
  • Experience in an ISO 13485/15189, GMP, GLP and/or CAP/CLIA environment
  • Strong understanding of NGS technologies and associated reagents preferred
  • Experience operating integrated workcells and liquid handlers preferred

Leadership

  • 10 + years technical experience and 5+ years of leadership experience in a high complexity molecular lab setting
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills with ability to work expansively and collaboratively with a diverse population
