Job Description

We have a unique and exciting opportunity for an ambitious Apprentice to join our friendly and diverse Editorial team. This role will provide you with the opportunity to get stuck in with supporting key processes and tasks across our global Editorial team and working as part of the team to assist with continuous improvement projects which support the efficiency of how we work. 

In this important and new role for the Editorial department, you will have the opportunity to gain a deep insight into how the Editorial department operates, and how we work collectively across the business to deliver new and exciting content to our customers across the Globe. Through contributing ideas and bringing fresh perspectives to the team, you will utilize your skills to support our Editorial Directors with essential administrative tasks such as diary management, arranging meetings, liaising with other departments, and acting as a central contact point for Editorial colleagues.

Alongside your day-to-day role, you will also be studying for the Level 3 Business Administration qualification which will provide you with the foundational principles of stakeholder management, project management, and how internal and external legislation can impact the work we do. 

You’ll receive support every step of the way, with guidance, training and mentoring, enabling you to put your off the job training to practical use to cement your learning and to reach your full potential. 

What will this role involve? 

Supporting Senior colleagues in Editorial, on any given day this might look like:

  • Collating and sharing data and information from across the Editorial team.
  • Producing content, typically in Microsoft Office, for the Editorial Directors
  • Supporting the management and organization of administration tasks, potentially including but not limited to: diary management, travel booking, financial processes including invoicing, contract creation 
  • Representing the Editorial team when working with colleagues 
  • Assisting Editorial colleagues, answering queries and supporting processes. 
  • Assisting in keeping our many projects moving, with support as and when required. 

You will work towards gaining: 

  • Level 3 Business Administrator qualification (standard) 
  • You will need to complete an End Point Assessment to successfully pass your apprenticeship

Qualifications

What we would love you to bring

Knowledge & Experience:

  • As a minimum requirement, you will need to have achieved 5 GCSE passes at Grade C/4 or above including in English and Maths or equivalent qualifications. 
  • A good understanding of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, Teams, Office 365 and SharePoint - we will help you learn these too!

  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated with the drive to achieve.
  • Effective time management skills, meeting deadlines and prioritising multiple tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; be able to communicate clearly and concisely with a range of stakeholders up to and including Director level.
  • Be a team player, building good working relationships and retaining a positive attitude towards your work and colleagues.
  • Creativity and willingness to bring new ideas to the team. 
  • Interest in learning, developing and applying best practices.

Eligibility:

  • To be eligible for Apprenticeship funding you need to have the right to and be living in England.
  • You must not already hold a qualification of the same type, content and level.
  • You must not be undertaking another apprenticeship or in education at the same time.
  • This role is open to candidates in all locations across England. Taylor & Francis has multiple options for how employees can work based on their role – be that in the Office, at home or somewhere in between.
  • Whilst this role can be completed remotely, there will be an expectation to work from our Milton Park, Oxfordshire offices on occasion so commutable distance from here is desirable.

Things to consider: 

An Apprenticeship is a learning opportunity. Apprentices will be required to complete the mandatory period of off-the-job training and all tasks associated with obtaining the Apprenticeship qualification. 

On completion of the Apprenticeship: 

A certificate will be issued formally recognizing this achievement and will mark the end of the 18-month program. 

Taylor & Francis will make every effort to identify a suitable internal role for you, however there is no automatic guaranteed progression to a permanent or fixed-term role after successful completion of the Apprenticeship.
