Could this be you?

Integral to our Payor Contracting team, the Provider Network Senior Specialist will leverage strong relationship skills to develop VillageMD’s referral network (physicians, hospitals, pharmacies, ancillary groups and other facilities, etc.) yielding a high functioning network that supports value-based contract objectives. This role is based in Houston and will work in close collaboration with the team to build out a city-wide specialist network. Additionally, this person will establish and maintain strong business relationships with health plans and network providers to ensure the network composition includes an appropriate distribution of provider specialties.

  • Maintain positive relationships with current and potential providers and their office staff
  • Understands and negotiates/renegotiates provider contracts and/or amendments with appropriate provider representatives as appropriate within specified guidelines and thresholds
  • Learns and uses basic knowledge of various software applications necessary to set up and maintain facility information as well as capable of running simple reports to support recruitment efforts.
  • Collects and disseminates all network provider contracts appropriately; identifies individuals for credentialing and communicates with internal customers in a timely manner
  • Has a thorough understanding of Commercial contract requirements and can communicate with the appropriate staff to resolve potential issues.
  • Participates with Network Manager to identify potential cost savings through strategic payment arrangements with potential providers and offer potential solutions to complex issues; able to prioritize, train, and delegate special projects as directed.
  • Attends meetings upon request of Network Manager or other leadership
  • Participate in interdepartmental project groups or task forces to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems and maintain a specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, contract awards, and new policy requirements.
  • Supports marketing/sales objectives and efforts as requested.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as required, and is able to provide clarity on how competing priorities may impact delivery.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey complex or technical information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret complex information from others, including but not limited to reimbursement policy standards
  • Strong interpersonal skills, establishing rapport and working well with others
  • Good analytical, organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.

 Experience to drive change

  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 years’ experience in a managed care environment.
  • 2-3 years’ experience in commercial healthcare provider contracting
  • Knowledge of health care contracts, applications, and products.
  • Good understanding of Provider Networks in the healthcare industry or Practitioner-level of Provider Networks
  • Above-average proficiency of Microsoft applications to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and healthcare databases.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
