Our Exciting Opportunity:

The Principal Solutions Manager leads technical engagements in support of Utilities opportunities across our North America Business Development Customer Unit team. This team is responsible for driving all interactions with our customers for technology presales and sales, design, and product development to ensure successful delivery and full customer satisfaction. Our Technology Solution Team acts as an important link between the customers and Ericsson's Product, System, and Network development organizations, ensuring that all aspects of technical solution definition, development, and delivery are completed.

This role requires a deep, technical understanding of our Ericsson portfolio, with a focus on 4G and 5G networks, as well as our client's business across Investor-Owned Utilities (IOU's) and our ecosystem partners.

You will:

  • Be forward-thinking by being a trusted advisor to key decision-makers within the Utilities Segment customers and our ecosystem partners.
  • Secure understanding of competition, market situation, industry, Utilities 4G and 5G strategy, building an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the customer.
  • Host and participate in direct onsite customer dialogues, laying out alternative long-term technology paths, relying on your experience and knowledge of the industry, while guiding the customer toward Ericsson offerings by highlighting Ericsson differentiation.
  • Champion customer requirements internally working with Ericsson product teams to influence Ericsson roadmap and capabilities to meet customer needs.
  • Be responsible for crafting a highly capable and experienced organization, capturing sales opportunities, and securing a high level of quality regardless of the engagement model.
  • Drive identification of opportunities and support generation of sales by ensuring that Ericsson is perceived as a technology leader and that our solutions (end-to-end) provide added value compared to the competition and highlight Ericsson differentiation
  • Build positive relationships with Ericsson account management teams, key customer decision-makers and influencers, Ericsson business units, third party partners, and other parties concerned
  • Manage the technical sales process and lead the designing of comprehensive and sophisticated technical solutions addressing customer needs
  • Evaluate Ericsson's current strategy & plans vs. customer's strategic plans
  • Initiate & drive customer dialog building on existing business
  • Support in developing & delivering customer presentations
  • Prioritize the customer needs and drive delivery of the customer solution
  • Up-sell opportunities during the entire process to supply to increased sales volumes


To be successful in the role you must have:

  • At least 10 years of relevant ICT experience including relationship sales, product management, or consulting
  • 5+ years in leadership positions
  • The ability to develop architectures and solutions directly with customers and in collaboration with cross-matrixed teams and subject matter authorities
  • Substantial and current cellular network experience in sales/solutions, network transformation, Core evolution and RAN Evolution. 4G and 5G experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with customers on technical strategy evolution
  • Exposure to how to price, sell and package Radio, Core, Network Management and End-to-End Solutions for Utilities
  • Ability to influence at an Executive/Senior Level
  • A University degree in Business or Engineering, Master's degree would be helpful or equivalent working experience
  • A continuous learner mentality and can quickly pick up new technology areas
  • Consultative selling skills
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
