Principal Risk Specialist CPO - ERM
Capital One is seeking an energetic, self-motivated Principal Associate to join the Corporate Policy Office (CPO) team within Enterprise Risk Management. The team is a dedicated group of professionals focused on executing second line-of-defense oversight responsibilities by improving governance and quality of policy documents for Capital One.
This Principal Risk Associate will contribute to the establishment and execution of a sustainable policy framework, including the strategies and processes, to govern and improve the quality of policy documents across the Enterprise. The Principal Risk Associate will partner with stakeholders at all levels to develop, implement, and drive adherence to the policy framework. The Principal Associate will build and maintain effective relationships with business partners.
Success in this position will rely heavily on working well with associates across the Enterprise. This role requires core strengths in Customer Focus, Results Focus, Problem Solving, and Communication. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with executives and stakeholders. In addition, the Principal Risk Associate will be expected to read, analyze, and rationalize existing policy documents and consult with stakeholders on creation of new policy documents. Further, the candidate will have writing experience and an attention to detail. A commitment to collaboration and teamwork is required, while having a strong ability to influence as well as being results-focused.
As a relationship manager, you are a key partner to the business areas and serve as a liaison between them and the CPO. You will be responsible for maintaining direct relationships with Business Area Contacts (BACs) and Document Managers to advise on the creation and management of policies and supporting documents that meet enterprise requirements and help identify issues to be escalated to the appropriate CPO forums. You will serve as the voice of the business area and advocate for the business area's policy needs. At the same time, a relationship manager will serve as the CPO's ambassador to the business areas to keep them abreast of any changes.
Responsibilities
- Contributes to the development and execution of a sustainable policy framework to govern and improve the quality of policy documents across the Enterprise
- Plans, leads, and tracks progress on the steps to review and drive content changes in policy documents, partnering with policy stakeholders
- Develops training and other tools and resources for writing and managing policy documents
- Conducts effective challenge on policy documents at various stages in the policy management lifecycle
- Demonstrates strong business judgment, leadership, and integrity
- Collaborates effectively across multiple stakeholders and organizations such as Operational Risk Management, Compliance, Legal, Technology, Internal Audit, Regulatory Relations, etc.
- Writes, contributes to, edits, and delivers presentations that aid in the design, development, refinement, and usage of risk management functions, practices, and activities
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification
- At least 2 years of experience in Process or Project management
- At least 2 years of experience supporting, partnering, and interacting with internal business clients
Preferred Qualifications :
- Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Juris Doctorate (JD)
- PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification
- Workiva or Wdesk experience
- At least 3 years of risk management experience
- At least 3 years project management experience
- At least 3 years of change management experience
- Policy management experience
- Technical writing experience
