About the job
The Red Hat Information Technology (IT) team is looking for a Principal IT Architect to join us. In this role, you will work with the IT Service Management (ITSM) team to a great extent and be responsible for the service management domain's business strategy. You will partner with both business and technology stakeholders to determine gaps in the service management capabilities, evaluate the application landscape, and define a roadmap to address the gaps to meet the desired business outcomes. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business.
What you will do

  • Maintain close working relationships with key business and technology stakeholders like product owners, platform architects, delivery team, etc., to understand business and technology goals, opportunities, and requirements
  • Provide overall direction, guidance, and definition of business solutions to effectively support the business strategy
  • Define application technology strategy and architecture to ensure alignment with the ServiceNow platform roadmap, technology industry standards, application technology roadmap, and business needs
  • Participate in and lead the realization of key bodies of work
  • Recommend changes in process, policies, and standards as they relate to the service management domain and design principles
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture (EA) portfolio architects to flesh out service management strategies pertaining to other portfolios and teams like the People (HR), Finance, Sales, and other teams
  • Stay up to date on innovations, new approaches, and technology trends within the wider service management industry and apply that perspective back to Red Hat's approach


What you will bring

  • Master's or bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 5+ years of experience serving in a consulting, architectural, or leadership role in the service management domain
  • Experience defining and maintaining strategies and roadmaps with complex delivery partnerships
  • Experience applying the principles of service management across on-premise and cloud solutions
  • Superior written and verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to focus discussions and reach decisions
  • Solid problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to apply past experience to better understand where and how a change may negatively affect another area of the business
  • Ability to apply modern techniques like design thinking and storytelling to help create an alignment and a sense of urgency across the enterprise for the desired future-state
  • Record of successfully optimizing and transforming key enterprise service management capabilities, including request management, change management, incident and problem management, and knowledge management
  • Motivated and requiring minimal to no direct supervision
  • Expert-level knowledge of the ServiceNow platform, including Service Desk, asset discovery, configuration management database (CMDB), end user self services, and ServiceNow scripting


The following are considered a plus:

  • Experience designing and facilitating workshops to elicit motivational, strategic, and competitive drivers and using the outputs to guide future-state designs and plans
  • Record of contributing back to consulting or architectural disciplines within and beyond employing organizations
  • Experience using capability-based planning and prioritization techniques
  • Certification in IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation V4, ITILv4 Strategic Leader, or equivalent
  • Familiar with Archimate (versions 2.1 or 3) modeling language
  • Familiar with industry standard architecture frameworks like The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), Zachman, or Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DODAF)
