About the job
The Red Hat IT team is looking for a Principal IT Architect to join our Enterprise Architecture team in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will be responsible for understanding Red Hat's key business objectives, helping define and evolve related technology strategies and objectives, and architecting and leading the implementation of enterprise-wide solutions that align with the resulting plans. You will guide the development of business solutions that meet the needs of Red Hat's internal business partners, focused on our Consulting and Training businesses.
What you will do

  • Develop and maintain technical roadmap and as-is architectural views across all Training and Consulting services
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for how key information flows across technical services to support our Training and Consulting businesses
  • Develop comprehensive future-state technical architectures based upon roadmap priorities, ensuring adherence to relevant enterprise standards and demonstrating excellence in areas such as security, compliance, resilience, and integrations
  • Proactively identify opportunities to exploit technology advances in technology to guide priority business outcomes
  • Represent the Consulting and Training portfolio as a technical consultant within wider enterprise initiatives
  • Support project management processes; assist in prioritization and sequencing of key work packages and risk identification and mitigation
  • Establish consistent application life cycle norms for application development and integration teams within the portfolio, including code reviews, testing strategies, and DevOps practices
  • Participate in architectural review activities, evaluating impacts and adherence of other target architectures with a particular focus for their impact to Training and Consulting
  • Contribute to the continued elevation of the architectural consulting discipline at Red Hat through coaching and mentoring activities


What you will bring

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in consulting or architectural roles
  • Experience defining and maintaining strategies and business and technical roadmaps
  • Superior written and verbal presentation skills
  • Demonstrated mastery of focusing discussions and guiding decisions across non-technical and technical audiences
  • Expert-level problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to apply past experience to assess the impacts of change to other areas of the business
  • Record of success optimizing and transforming key enterprise capabilities, including professional services automation and online training and exams
  • Record of successfully delivering solutions through the Salesforce.com ecosystem
  • Demonstrated leadership in providing solutions that require integration across multiple systems
  • Experience with the principles of agile development methodologies
  • Ability to balance the need for speed and innovation with ensuring solid foundations


The following are considered a plus:

  • Direct experience with the FinancialForce PSA module
  • History of contributing back to consulting or architectural disciplines within and beyond employing organizations
  • Experience applying capability-based planning and prioritization techniques
