STR is a rapidly growing technology company focused on research and development for the defense and intelligence communities. We have locations north of Boston, MA, Arlington, VA and near Dayton, OH, with expansion underway in Melbourne, FL and San Diego, CA. We're not just any tech company, either. We think that our people, our values, and our work have us on a trajectory to change the world. We can't do it alone, though – we need fellow travelers, and we are hoping that you are one of them.

At STR, our work is challenging but high impact. One of the best things about STR is going home at night knowing that we pushed the forefront of technology and made the world a little safer. Our work focuses on national security in the information age, trying to understand how to protect our society, from stopping malicious botnet attacks, to developing sensors that exploit physics to see the world in new ways, to developing analytics to make sense of the complexity that is exploding around us.

We take pride in our culture, too. Yes, we have snacks, but we really mean the attitude of our team – looking out for each other and working with genuine collaboration. At STR, we believe that together we can be greater than any one of us alone. STR is committed to creating a collaborative learning environment that supports deep technical understanding and recognizes the contributions and achievements of all team members. We have a deep commitment to diversity.

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with federal government contract administration experience in the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and intelligence acquisition space to join our growing Contracts team. This role offers unparalleled opportunities to lead contract activities with a growing and diverse set of partners, take on project oversight responsibilities, and gain valuable experience. The successful candidate will have high energy, a commitment to excellence, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record of success in federal government contracting.

The Role:

  • Perform life cycle contract administration of government contracts within a diverse portfolio
  • Lead and develop business proposals in collaboration with Program Management and Program Finance as well as with subcontractor partners
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and with legal, regulatory, and customer requirements in day-to-day execution and also during audits
  • Review, negotiate and execute non-disclosure agreements, associate contractor agreements, teaming agreements, license agreements, and other types of agreements
  • Provide guidance on contract and regulatory requirements
  • Support purchasing system compliance activities, including customer communications with the DCMA and leading Contractor Purchasing System Reviews (CPSRs)
  • Collaborate, coordinate, and communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers, partners, and stakeholders
  • Recommend process improvements to scale and optimize contracting activities and practices
  • Participate in special projects

Requirements

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance
  • More than 5 years of federal government contracting experience with DoD and intelligence customers
  • Strong working knowledge of FAR/DFARS and general contracts law principles
  • Expertise in purchasing regulations and experience leading/participating in CPSRs
  • Familiarity with export control laws and regulations
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply federal regulations and related acquisition policies and guidance
  • Experience with various contract types and vehicles (i.e., CPFF, FFP, T&M, Cost-Reimbursement, Labor-Hour, IDIQ, OTA)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills

Even better:

  • Active Security Clearance at the Top Secret (TS) level

What’s the vibe like in the office?

It's pretty fun to work at a place that does good things and treats its employees really well. There is free coffee, oatmeal, snacks, Brugger’s Bagels every Friday, lots of giveaways (peloton bikes!), a ton of employee academic/fun clubs (I am in the RF, surfing, running, and math clubs), and fun laptop stickers.
