Job Description

As the Operations Manager for a continuously available hosting environment for a major civilian government customer, you will provide technology leadership in the planning and strategy, architecture, deployment, management and operation of essential IT infrastructure including computing, storage, virtualization, cloud computing, networking, and security. The ideal candidate should bring experience working in infrastructure management including cloud/SaaS exposure, introducing new technologies and change in a dynamic environment, and managing IT service delivery. The Operations Manager is responsible for developing, designing, implementing and maintaining a reliable and secure data center infrastructure environment to support the customer's business needs.

Key Responsibilities

Data Center Management

• Provide oversight and management of data center services, including but not limited to: server & server virtualization, data storage, Citrix, Active Directory, email, Public and private cloud-based solutions
• Develop, design, implement and maintain highly available (24x7x365) and secure data center infrastructure to support the customer's business needs

Data Center Strategy

• Develop & implement a comprehensive data center management strategic roadmap
• Own solution design in support of data center infrastructure service delivery and technology roadmap execution. This includes capacity planning and management, developing long- and short-term infrastructure plans against a technology roadmap, and oversight of operations related to networks, servers, storage systems, telecommunications systems, cloud computing, and other elements of IT infrastructure. Working with leadership, assist in the evaluation of cloud-based models and any subsequent migration of on-premise infrastructure to a cloud-based system

Data Center Operations

• Own maintenance and support of Data Center computing environment including the hardware, software, maintenance, and operations through the complete lifecycle from acquisition through disposal
• Actively identify and implement recommendations regarding operational improvements
• Delegate daily operational tasks such as infrastructure deployment, system maintenance, operations, troubleshooting, and required reporting. Provide input regarding system protection and utilization
• Act as the IT escalation point of contact for data center operations and communicate closely with Senior Management during all outages
• Proactively develop and coach teams to enhance their strengths and provide opportunities to build their experience level
• Provide opportunities to collaborate with other departments on enterprise-related projects

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or four year degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or similar discipline or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
• 7+ years of IT experience with significant depth in data center infrastructure and operations
• Minimum of 3 years of IT Management experience required
• Experience in large 24x7 production Information Technology operations.

Additional Minimum Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal communication skills and strategic and creative thinking abilities.
• Comprehensive understanding of Data Center Infrastructure, including but not limited to: virtualization, orchestration, storage, Active Directory, collaboration services (email, chat, SharePoint, etc.) Citrix.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills required.
• Builds collaborative and productive relationships across the enterprise.

Preferred Qualifications

• ITIL and other similar systems-related certifications in areas such as Network, Storage Area Network, and System Administration are preferred.
• Experience with federal customers' on-prem data center managed services
• Knowledge of cloud environments, database, application, network, and productization of release management services
• Experience with Enterprise Cloud Migration and Hybrid Cloud Management
• Experience with federal contracting and managing subcontracting relationships
