Job Description:


In a manufacturing environment, the Operations Manager drives the long-range strategic planning process for operations by overseeing and managing all manufacturing operations, including manufacturing itself, production control, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, equipment engineering, inventory control, potential materials functions, such as purchasing, and shipping/receiving activities.

Defines goals, improves technologies, and resolves problems in conjunction with managers of manufacturing, quality assurance, engineering, and sales. Translates customer requirements into state-of-the-art manufacturing strategies and processes, resulting in cost-effective processing and profitable manufacturing of company products.

Develops operations-related plans, budgets, and policies and procedures. Maintains safety and regulatory compliance relating to the production facility. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Establishes strategic plans and objectives. Participates in development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for programs and individuals. Decisions have a serious impact on the overall success of functional, business unit or company objectives. Directs functional area through department Managers and/or Professional track employees.


Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Technology or Business, MBA would be a benefit


Minimum of 3 years medical device industry experience and/or training is desired. Class 2 Medical device experience is strongly preferred.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBLITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Vendor Management: Support Sourcing with management of vendors to establish contracts, ensure contract compliance, meet cost objectives, and maintain supplier quality.


Support the development of production demand forecasts and manage both internal and external production builds

Ensure that quality plans and requirements in manufacturing are met

Develop and implement short- and long-term strategic manufacturing plans

Identify, design and obtain manufacturing capabilities as required to meet operational objectives.

Customer Service:

Establish and implement proper procedures to ensure fulfillment for customers including sales force order entry, order management and delivery.

Facility Management:

Oversee the facility needs of the company including facility expansion, maintenance, and cost management.

Inventory Management:

Develop and manage a warehouse and shipping area to service the company's needs.

Establish and maintain stocking levels to meet company goals

Implement the operational systems, processes, and policies in support of the organization's values

Prepare departmental, fiscal planning and forecasting reports as required for the executive management team

Establish and maintain Operations Department budgets

Manage the manufacturing aspects of new product development projects


Ability to multi-task significant projects with complex scheduling of key technical resources and deliverables.


Works with minimal supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters.


Ability to establish credibility with a broad range of associates, both internal and external.

Hire and develop Operations associates as required


Ability to plan, organize, monitor, and execute a project.

Strong interpersonal skills

Excellent computer skills and proficient in excel, word, outlook, and access

Strong work ethic


Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

Make effective presentations on general topics to internal / external audience

Ability to communicate effectively before groups of customers or employees.


Ability to travel - 25%.
