Operations Leadership Program

Be a part of Fifth Third Bank's landmark early talent program that allows recent college graduates to participate in hands-on leadership development supporting the Cincinnati market. This is a paid professional development opportunity where you'll learn Fifth Third Bank's business practices, operations, and procedures.

You will be responsible and accountable for risk, encouraged to openly exchange ideas and opinions, elevate concerns, and follow policies and procedures to safeguard the company. Doing the right thing for customers and colleagues is key; you'll ensure their actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience, achieving real results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

The Operations Leadership Program (OLP) is designed to help participants develop skills to use in leadership roles across departments and divisions. Moving through four departmental rotations over the two-year program, participants will gain resources that can help in a career path, leading to roles such as Operations Supervisor, Process Improvement Analyst, Project Manager, or Quality Control Analyst.

What You'll Do

The Operations Leadership Program participants engage in a variety of operational settings, from customer-facing to high production and detail, to project management and process improvement. As a participant in the program, you'll develop an ability to thrive in leadership roles in a customer-centric environment, learning adaptability and flexibility while delivering leading-edge business solutions.

Your days will be filled with fast-paced on-the-job training and development as a vital part of the team. In meetings, you won't be expected to be seen and not heard; your ideas will be vital to the company's strategies going forward. You'll meet with senior leaders, soaking in their experience and insights, while developing your own skills based on their guidance. This isn't a role where you'll be making copies and fetching coffee for employees. You'll be a valued part of the team, gaining valuable experience and getting first-hand insights on how to run a major banking institution.

Job Duties

  • Plans, assigns, and monitors the workflow of a group of employees within an assigned functional area, maintaining optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness while ensuring that production standards are met and maintained.



  • Administers all human resource policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Ensures the area is sufficiently staffed, and that the staff is adequately trained.
  • Maintains daily, weekly and monthly reporting of departmental activity.
  • Monitors the attendance of subordinates and ensures accuracy of hours work prior to submitting payroll information to the payroll department.
  • Creates and presents a formal PowerPoint presentation to Sr. Management at the end of each 6-month assignment.



  • Actively participates in community volunteerism projects.
  • Performs special projects as assigned and at the direction of the Assignment Leader or Program Manager, utilizes project management skills to manage and reports back on project status.
  • Acquires recruiting skills to be able to make hiring decisions while on assignment.
  • Interprets employee engagement scores and conducts employee engagement impact plans with employees.
  • Builds a network of resources within operations and supporting divisions upon which to call for assistance.



  • Attends formal training classes, supplementing the on-the-job learning that occurs throughout the program.
  • Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Performs assignments as determined by the assignment leader, while rotating through various operational departments.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Responsible for providing employees timely, candid and constructive performance feedback; developing employees to their fullest potential and providing challenging opportunities that enhance employee career growth; developing the appropriate talent pool to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning; recognizing and rewarding employees for accomplishments.



Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Upon hire, a completed four-year undergraduate degree in Operations Management, Business, or Finance (or other relevant major) with a graduation date within 2021-2022
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Previous internship or co-op program experience preferred
  • Campus involvement / leadership experience



  • Ability to complete both guided and self-directed learning activities
  • Desire to grow into a management or leadership position
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Basic Excel proficiency (data entry, formatting, charts, basic formulas, Vlookup)
