The Operations role is responsible for providing operational support to the managed services leader and service teams with a focus on - Strategic Leadership and Implementation, Revenue Growth and Operational Optimization. Managed services is a strategic growth area for Consulting; this role will support the practice in achieving its growth goals, addressing operational impediments to achieving them and project management of strategic initiatives. The Managed Services (MS) Operations Director develops and maintains program roadmap for all initiatives impacting Consulting Managed Services solutions in order to provide line of sight and direction around these initiatives. In this capacity, operations is accountable to ensure tools, processes, and systems exist to effectively grow the managed services business and support the delivery of quality services to RSM's clients.

Strategic Leadership - Planning | Analysis | Leadership

  • Liaise with Service line leadership, Internal functional groups, Consulting Systems / Operations teams to provide

    Support and Execution

  • Partner strategically with and / or serve as a surrogate for assigned Consulting Leader/s to support the execution of short and long-term goals
  • Participate in setting direction, making decisions, develop implementation plans and performance measurements for the ongoing success of the team
  • Partner strategically with assigned Consulting Leader/s to develop meeting objectives and agendas, facilitate meetings, and provide management oversight to strategic and tactical imperatives
  • Provide project management and/or oversight to the development and successful execution of growth strategies

Performance Analysis

  • Liaise with finance and other stakeholder groups to design and implement performance reporting necessary to monitor, identify and address issues impacting growth and operational success
  • Utilize performance reports and systems to perform detailed analysis of identified under-performing areas summarizing findings and improvement recommendations to the Consulting Leader/s

Business Oversight

  • Continually identify, assess, monitor and communicate the issues and risks of a project/activity to the appropriate stakeholder
  • Provide interim hands-on leadership, management and oversight to troubled initiatives on an as-needed basis
  • Provide day to day and ongoing performance management, development, coaching and exit-counseling of employees (as applicable)

Strategy Implementation - Management | SME

Initiative Management

  • Manage and facilitate internal consulting initiative implementations (ie. new service offerings, technology solutions, business processes, etc.) by working with Consulting Leaders, technical counterparts, internal support functions, and vendors as necessary to address full client delivery life cycle and operational components
  • Recognize and determine the appropriate corrective action to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and scope
  • Apply knowledge to ensure projects achieve objectives and strategic business alignment

Change Management

  • Partner with Consulting Leaders to provide change management support for internal initiatives

Operational Optimization - Practices | Policies | Process | Effectiveness

  • Liaise with internal functions, practice leaders, and delivery teams to enable and / or optimize:
  • Standard Operating Procedures
    • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for all operational processes
    • Update standard operating procedures as process improvements are implemented
  • Business Lifecycle Support
    • Provide business lifecycle process (lead generation to engagement closure) and systems knowledge support to consulting leaders and team members
  • Operational Effectiveness
    • Provide ongoing operational process oversight and monitoring of process adherence and effectiveness
    • Develop and implement process improvements focused on operational effectiveness and efficiency
  • Technology Deployment
  • Act as operations subject matter expert and advocate for technology deployments, working with Consulting Leaders, technical counterparts, internal support functions, and vendors
  • Reporting Effectiveness
  • Provide ongoing reporting oversight and monitoring of reporting effectiveness
  • Ensure reporting is available to monitor and measure key performance indicators
  • Process Improvement
  • Recommend and develop operational process improvement initiatives in support of the business strategy
  • Collaboration
  • Partner with assigned Consulting Leaders, consulting team, and internal departments (human resources, sales, marketing, finance, legal, NORM, etc.) to develop, implement and maintain efficient and effective operational support processes

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Advanced understanding of client delivery life cycle
  • Program, project and change management expertise
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
  • General knowledge of business and IT systems
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong knowledge of project management tools and MS PowerPoint skills
  • 5-8 years relevant work experience
  • 5-7 years experience with operations management
  • Minimum of ten years experience working with management level individuals
  • Previous experience in managing others in a team environment - direct or indirectly
  • Experience in navigating in a matrix reporting environment solving/resolving complex issues
  • Proven leadership and excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate with both business and technical audiences
  • Required to effectively communicate across all levels; knows audience and adapts appropriately, effective facilitation/presentation skills and strong listening skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills; works well with a variety of work styles, able to handle difficult conversations with members of team and create "win-win" solutions for those involved
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to interact with senior management
  • Organizational skills including the ability to identify and manage concurrent projects
  • Strong interpersonal skills plus a pro-active approach to finding solutions and managing priorities
  • Ability to work with diverse teams, and communicate using virtual communication tools (phone, conferencing, online meeting)
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience developing, working with, or in Managed Services
  • Project Management Professional(PMP) Certification
  • Change Management Certification
  • Minimum of five years experience working in a professional services firm; consulting
