Department OverviewThe Onboard Technical Trainer will provide training and support for new Technical Services Engineers. They work cross- functionally with Support and Technical Services. Their goals are to maximize onboarding experience with WatchGuard products (Dash Cameras, Body Cameras and Evidence Management Software).
Job Description


The Technical Services Trainer is responsible for the development and delivery of classroom and online technical training for WatchGuard products to onboard internal field service engineers.


  • Works with management to identify training needs and priorities

  • Develops and maintains new hire onboarding technical training curriculum

  • Coordinates and delivers technical onboarding training for new hires covering the installation of proprietary hardware and software 

  • Setup and maintain lab equipment for hands-on training use

  • Develops presentation tools and techniques to improve team effectiveness for customer training

  • Facilitate Train-The-Trainer sessions with new hires

  • Coordinates with other personnel to write, review, and maintain internal technical documentation

  • Works with team to facilitate continual education for the team of field service engineers


  • Minimum 4 years prior Information Technology experience required 

  • Able to lift up to 75 pounds

  • Able to travel up to 25%

  • Strong Microsoft Office experience: MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint

  • Intermediate experience with Windows operating systems, SQL server, TCP IP Networking

  • Intermediate experience with Linux (preferred)

  • Knowledge of Articulate 360 or another E-Learning Platform

  • Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS) including Moodle, BlackBoard / OpenLMS, Drupal, Totara

  • Strong graphic and video editing experience

  • Skilled in Hardware, Software and Network troubleshooting 

  • Web page and HTML editing experience

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills 

  • Works well individually or in a team setting 

  • Maintains strong attention to detail in situations and time constraints 

  • Solid understanding of business practices and project management methodology 

  • Excellent verbal/written communication 

  • Strong analytical skills

Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology  related field 

  • 2+ years of technical presentation and teaching experience
