Your Opportunity
We are currently seeking a NetZero & Sustainable Mining Strategist to join our Mining team in our Chandler, AZ office. Sustainable practices and NetZero Mining are part of our culture and the design and delivery of projects; we work to make a positive impact, because it is the right thing to do. The Net Zero and Sustainable Mining Strategist influences change through awareness and expertise, as Stantec continues to grow in the Energy Transition.

Your Key Responsibilities
Through teamwork and collaboration with our diverse team of professionals you will further position Stantec as a trusted strategic partner by helping to strengthen our NetZero and Sustainable Mining efforts and assist our clients as they navigate this new energy reality. This position will interface with Stantec Mining and Stantec Energy & Resources (E&R) resources. You support all aspects of Energy Transition growth:

  • Review our progress and inhouse programs, our plan for engagement with clients, and current plans.
  • Help shift our internal culture toward NetZero Mining.
  • Develop and execute plans for strategic alignment within E&R to boost sustainability initiatives.
  • Develop program initiatives and offerings based on current capabilities.
  • Lead Stantec internal discussions towards proactive offerings - 'what's next?".
  • Pursue external presentation opportunities and authorship to position Stantec as a thought leader.
  • Assist with client Energy Transition and corporate initiatives by offering our Stantec portfolio.
  • Provide and conduct specific key mining client interviews, meetings, connections, and conferences to introduce the Stantec offerings.
  • Inspire client-facing interactions, resulting in a proposal or project opportunity; specifically, to key clients.
    • Identify pursuits and targets
    • Propose NetZero or Sustainable Mining by Design projects



Your Capabilities and Credentials
You are an individual who is passionate about transforming Stantec as a proactive driver of new tools and opportunity, to achieve our Growth goals and making a commitment to this type of change:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of Stantec Mining and E&R policies and trends.
  • Considerable mining and renewable energy industry professional experience managing and engaging large Mining and E&R client relationships.
  • Experience developing and leading successful teams that provide solutions to our clients' needs.
  • Demonstrated experience in team building.
  • Strategic thinker, comfortable with both ambiguity as well as building practical processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including ability to convey complex issues to a variety of audiences, as required.
  • Strong work ethic, sense of humor, and desire for team success.
  • Demonstrable experience leading and facilitating client workshops.



Education and Experience

  • At least 15 years of experience in mining, production, or energy industry, preferably in the consulting and advisory environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and/or Business or equivalent experience.
