National Technology Manager

We are seeking a highly dynamic and talented National Technology Manager who will have oversight over the multiple technical initiatives including business intelligence reporting, data warehousing, and data integration. The National Technology Manager will be responsible for the overall team execution of BI projects which include: writing and reviewing code, architecting solutions, project estimating, work planning, issues management, risk management and change control.

Also, the National Technology Manager will work with many technologies and as an IT leader for the team and business stakeholders. This position will manage business intelligence, data warehouse, and IT strategy projects. Will take an internal leadership role in one or more areas to coach, mentor and review BI engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead project planning and sizing activities, identify resource requirements and oversee a team of internal and external resources capable of producing specified deliverables.
  • Create and maintain a software development project plan that communicates tasks, milestone dates, status, and resource allocation.
  • Manage software development projects around the BI platform to ensure quality, on time, within budget delivery from requirement definition through testing, rollout, and support.
  • Architect, design, develop, test, and deploy code for business intelligence and database technology platforms.
  • Share acquired skills/knowledge with team members and mentor junior engineers.
  • Create a user support structure that addresses user requests with minimal impact on ongoing project work; manage user training and onboarding activities.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related education required or equivalent job-related experience
  • 6+ years of significant experience with SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS
  • 6+ years of relevant experience with Systems Analysis and documentation
  • Deep knowledge of related technologies such as SSAS, Microsoft and third-party BI tools, .NET
  • SCRUM Master and working within an Agile process a plus
  • Prior consulting experience is a big plus

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Job Duty

Software Development Management

  • Lead project planning and sizing activities, identify resource requirements, and oversee a team of internal and external resources capable of producing specified deliverables
  • Create and maintain an software development project plan that communicates tasks, milestone dates, status, and resource allocation
  • Identify and communicate major milestones and risks to achieving those milestones in a positive manner
  • Coordinate delivery of development (beta) and production releases that meet quality assurance standards
  • Manage software development projects around the BI platform to ensure quality, on time, within budget delivery from requirement definition through testing, rollout, and support
  • Perform work breakdown and task identification, assign tasks to project resources, track progress on assigned tasks, and manage the assembly of completed tasks into coherent deliverables


Technical Leadership

  • Architect, design, develop, test, and deploy code for business intelligence and database technology platforms
  • Plan and execute efforts to address technical debt for legacy systems and processes
  • Share acquired skills/knowledge with team members and mentor junior engineers
  • Collaborate with test team in creating a Quality Assurance strategy for supporting both new and legacy BI systems
  • Develop and enforce development best practices
  • Lead code reviews and technical exchange sessions
  • Manage the development and maintenance of technical documents


End User Support

  • Create a user support structure that addresses user requests with minimal impact on ongoing project work
  • Manage user training and onboarding activities.
  • Perform technical liaison functions to all clients/customers



Supervisory Responsibilities:

Direct Reports
- Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools and resources

Indirect Reports
- May delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

Travel and/or Driving Requirements:

- Travel and Driving are not essential duties or functions of this job

Minimum Qualifications

The following are the minimum job-related qualifications which an individual needs in order to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the job
Education Level: (Required): Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Field of Study/Area of Experience: computer science, engineering or related education/professional work experience
- 6+ years of significant experience with SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS
- 6+ years of relevant experience with Systems Analysis and documentation
- Deep knowledge of related technologies such as SSAS, Microsoft and third party BI tools, .NET
- Current experience presenting technical solutions to business and technical audiences
- Experience leading software development teams through all phases of the SDLC
- Experience managing business clients or customers
- Advanced communication, organization, and project management skills
- SCRUM Master and working within an Agile process a plus
- Prior consulting experience is a big plus

  • Experience architecting technical solutions for complex problems
  • Experience architecting systems and leading a small team in a Microsoft BI development environment:
  • SQL Server 2008 (or newer)
  • Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Microsoft Team Foundation Server
  • Microsoft Office
  • SharePoint
  • Third party BI visualization and end user tools
  • Working knowledge of related systems and platforms:.NET, Active Directory, BizTalk, Dynamics and application architecture



Environmental & Physical Requirements:

Office / Sedentary Requirements: Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Typically requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time (66%+ each day), ability to hear the telephone, ability to enter data on a computer and may also require the ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
