Job Description

HAPS is a HW platform used for prototyping & validation of ASIC designs on FPGA-based HW. The HAPS HW is a sophisticated electro-mechanical assembly consisting of multiple complex PCBA, many cables, and a sophisticated sub-assembly and box build. Validating the HW requires use of test rigs, test stations, and test SW to ensure build quality.

The role of the Operations Manager is to manage a small team of assembly & test technicians and deliver high-quality HAPS units. The manager must coordinate with engineering to help define and drive the assembly & test process; coordinate with procurement to ensure material availability; and drive the assembly team to deliver high quality HAPS units.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage all activities of the assembly & test team in San Diego
  • Coordinate with Procurement to ensure all material is available as per the build plan requirements
  • Coordinate with engineering to ensure assembly & Test instructions are in place; help drive improvements to these processes
  • Ensure on-time completion of all work order with high quality
  • Ensure the team is meeting quality and safety standards
  • Ensure all manufacturing regulatory policies are strictly enforced, especially ESD, and safety procedures.
  • Provide inputs on manufacturing assembly and test work instructions for future improvements

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8-10 years' experience with HW operations, including assembly & test
  • Experience managing a team of HW technicians
  • Sound organization and project management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Track record demonstrating quality mind-set
  • Track record leading teams to deliver products on schedule

Education Requirements:

  • BS and 10 years experience with HW operations
