MEG Technologist

Nebraska Medicine is now taking applications for a talented individual to join us as an MEG Technologist. This position will be based at our main campus in Omaha, NE.

Position Highlights:
The position is within the ongoing clinical and research work in epilepsy, neurogenerative disorders and developmental disorders. The candidate will assist in collecting and analyzing the MEG data in clinical and research studies, work with experimental protocols, analyze behavioral electrophysiological data, and contribute to research presentations and publication of results.

The candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team of physicians, scientists and neurodiagnostic technologists. The candidate will be supported in developing the new skills and encouraged to become a proficient MEG specialist.

The candidate will be actively involved in clinical evaluation of patients with epilepsy and other chronic conditions under the supervision of senior scientists (Ph.D.) and the Medical Director.

The department has a 306 whole-head MEG (Neo MEGin) system to measure the neuronal brain activity in children and adults in clinical studies and research settings. In our MEG laboratory, the candidate will learn the specifics of EEG and MEG recordings and will master the techniques to acquire these neurophysiological data.

  • First Shift, 8:00AM- 4:30pm, Monday through Friday
  • Full time, 80 hours per pay period

Duties: MEG Technologist

Assist in collecting and analyzing the MEG data in clinical and research studies. Work with experimental protocols, analyze behavioral electrophysiological data, and contribute to research presentations and publication of results. Work within a multidisciplinary team of physicians, scientists and neurodiagnostic technologists. Be actively involved in clinical evaluation of patients with epilepsy and other chronic conditions under the supervision of senior scientists (Ph.D.) and the Medical Director.

Required Qualifications: MEG Technologist

* High school education or equivalent required.

* Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (one year of experience equals one year of education) required.

* Ability to work independently, achieve established deadlines and take initiative on multiple projects required.

* Demonstration of strong interpersonal skills and communication skills, both oral and written required.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Outlook required.

* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within one month of transfer or hire required.

Preferred Qualifications: MEG Technologist

* Degree in Biomedical or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related disciplines; individuals who have completed undergraduate degrees in these areas, with demonstrable relevant technical experience preferred.

* High-level of computer literacy; expertise in Linux/Unix systems preferred.

* Strong coding / programming skills; a background in signal processing preferred.

* Experience in neurodiagnostics or research preferred.

* Six months work experience in a health care environment preferred.
