Job Description

You’ll join Xplor Field Services - FieldEdge - the team that develops business management software for the Field Service Industry. We offer business owners an all-in-one software system, which handles scheduling, invoicing, and customer service responsibilities. Our software helps thousands of contractors and field service entrepreneurs build highly profitable businesses – with less stress, and better control over their growth.

We are looking for a Mechanical Trades Specialist who will report directly to our Manager of Product. This person will be responsible for maintaining the quality and integrity of the FieldEdge Flat-Rate repair database, Mobile App, and search engine by researching and updating parts, pricing and repairs.


  • Assist in maintaining the FieldEdge Flat-rate database with up-to-date parts, pricing and repairs.
  • Routinely analyze feedback and failed searches from end-users that use the Flat-rate search engine to provide recommendations for enhancement.
  • Train members (owner, office and service staff) via video conference, on effective use of the Flat-rate database.
  • Provide technical support to HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical members as needed
  • Provide internal training on product offerings and share technical expertise when needed.
  • Provide product demonstration to new and potential members.
  • Review, analyze, evaluate and provide recommendations to enhance and improve parts & repairs database.
  • Accurately perform data entry.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with manufacturers, distributors and contractors to gain access to part information (manufacturer, numbering, costing, etc.) to keep the Flat-rate database of parts and repairs accurate and up to date.
  • Occasional travel to trade shows, dealer meetings and customer visits.


  • 8-10 years experience as a contractor, technician, or service manager in HVAC, electrical or plumbing industry preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and teach one to two hour product training courses.
  • Presentation and teaching experience desirable.
  • Must be a self-starter willing to maintain a calendar of events to assure excellent customer support and satisfaction.
  • Must be able to relate to technicians, plumbers, electricians, business owners, consultants, distributors and manufacturer personnel at every level.
