Description
In this role your responsibilities will be of a technical nature with decisions made within the limits of general practices, policies and standards. Your work will involve complex manufacturing problems including the need to root cause and follow issues to resolve. You will be responsible for equipment related to the manufacturing process. You will required to use your independent discernment. Your responsibility may involve training others and assigning work to a small group of employees.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop DSI level investment for all MPS requests from MSIE's with support of Process Leads & Execution teams
  • Support MSIE led GAIM reviews by program to scope/understand each project and provide BOE/BOT enablers to support efficient build of product
  • Initiate program study at Integration Supplier to develop initial METL, Tool & Equipment estimate, Major Rearrangements, Level 2 Downtime Requirements, VPI MPS Submittal, Install Plan, and Carrier Design Studies
  • Ensure that all product programs adhere to BOP and BOE strategies, follow deviation process where applicable
  • Lead Integration Supplier efforts following standardized work for supported area (chassis/trim/powertrain/fluid fill)
  • Initiate program study at Integration Supplier to develop final METL, Final Estimate (tool, equipment, install, support), Level 3 Layout (monuments place), Level 2 rearrangements identified, Level 3 downtime requirements understood, Initial Install plan, Proto-type Carrier build, Major M&E in process, Periodic Leadership reviews
  • Write initial shopping carts for major tooling
  • Manage plus/minus program file with Integration Supplier by program to ensure financials are maintained
  • Provide oversight in support of Execution teams at Integration Supplier
  • Resolve issues that arise between Integration Supplier and Execution Teams to ensure entire flow of programs is balanced

Additional Description
Minimum Requirements:
  • 10+ years work experience in Manufacturing Operations and/or Manufacturing Engineering, including vehicle assembly plant/program launch experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical) or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of core Manufacturing Engineering techniques and skill sets
  • Strong working knowledge of GMS / Lean manufacturing principles
  • High level of written and oral communication skills
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees and elicit work output
  • Strong analytical, computer, presentation, and problem solving skills
  • Strong Project Management skills to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously, set priorities, and manage deliverables

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Thorough General Assembly operations knowledge with experience in Production, Maintenance, Manufacturing Engineering, and/or Quality including experience in multiple vehicle launches and lean initiative implementation
  • Thorough knowledge and experience in the Global Vehicle Development Process (VDP) from vehicle design concept to program execution and launch
  • Experience in tool design, build, validation, and implementation follow-up
  • Experience in application of math-based processes
  • Familiar with cost estimation and manufacturing budget/financial reporting processes
  • Preferred: Masters Degree in Engineering or Business Management
