Summary:
The Material Planner is responsible for planning and managing production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements and best utilize the company's productive capacity as well as managing inventory levels. This position is further responsible for the timely planning and scheduling of receipt of inventory control of the products and services as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes sales order releases with respect to capacity planning and material requirements.
  • Manages inventory levels, schedules, and availability of selected item, either manufactured or purchased, to meet production schedules.
  • Completes shipping information and delivery date input during sale order reviews.
  • Answer termination or cancellation requests from sales.
  • Orders floor stock with shelf life material for production.
  • Reviews work in process material sweeps from production floor.
  • Receives and reviews sales orders against current requirements and work in process using the material requirement planning report.
  • Releases purchase orders for production material, floor stock items and all purchases to support the business unit.
  • Interfaces with manufacturing personnel, the procurement department, and supervisors on material status and production planning issues.
  • Coordinates as appropriate quality matters and engineering changes/developments between company activities and suppliers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance or Accounting preferred.
  • Five years prior work experience in a material planning role.
  • Prefer APICS certification

  • Communicates regularly with customers to get feedback and performance information.

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to plan and set priorities.
  • Clear and effective communication skills in both written and spoken forms.
  • Knowledge of computer applications including email, databases, word-processing program and spreadsheets (such as Microsoft Office).
  • Maintains confidentiality while processing and handling confidential information with discretion.
  • Defines tasks and milestones to achieve objectives, while ensuring the optimal use of resources to achieve those objectives.
  • Works effectively with different levels of management, team members and customers.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.


Physical Demands:

  • Medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
  • Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.
  • Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.
