Summary
Material Handlers are essential to the daily operation of every manufacturing business, moving inventory and production supplies safely in the warehouse. You would ensure the safe and timely delivery of materials, employing the highest industry safety standards. Coordinate lifting with coworkers to maximize efficiency, paying careful attention to detail, ensuring the proper completion of every order. If you exemplify strong leadership skills, time management abilities and motivation, you are the candidate we are looking for. As a Material Handler I, you will become an integral part of company operations and strengthen our business’ efficiency, timeliness, and commitment to service.
Job Duties
- Inspect as well as correctly stage, identify and label all materials warehouse materials. Maintain records of material placement and storage as needed.
- Keep a detailed inventory of all supplies and materials. Schedule orders for materials based on current demands and inventory.
- Regularly prepare, package and schedule orders for delivery.
- Assist with loading delivery trucks as well as move materials using heavy machinery throughout the warehouse and office areas.
- Handle pallets and boxes using pallet jacks, forklifts and other moving tools throughout the facilities.
- Supervise loading docks and material storage areas.
- Communicate with coworkers, vendors and customer shipping representatives by phone calls, emails, texts messages, etc. to fulfill requests effectively and efficiently.
- Assist the Facilities group with the management and maintain material handling equipment.
- Assist other groups with other duties as needed.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years’ experience previous warehouse, production or inventory management experience
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to prioritize tasks and keep a detailed schedule.
- Ability to meet OSHA requirements for safety in the work environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Desire to work as part of a team.
- Able to work on feet for an extended period of time.
- Able to regularly lift heavy objects up to 70 lbs.
- Basic computer and mathematics skills.
- Ability to work nights and weekends as necessary.
Preferred qualifications:
- HAZMAT material training
- Knowledge of DOT HAZMAT regulations (Class 9 UN3480 & UN3481, lithium-ion battery cell)
- 49 CFR DOT Shipper Hazmat certification
- Data entry and analysis using NetSuite
- Forklift certification
